Whether Valentine’s Day means something to you or not, we all have someone that deserves love. Yourself. It can be easy to forget about showing yourself love when considering those special relationships in your life. Here are six simple ways to show yourself some appreciation and love this Valentine’s Day, or any day.

1. A self-appreciation letter

This first idea is budget friendly. All you really need are some positive thoughts. However, I recommend writing your thoughts down in some way. This allows for them to stick a little bit more and become memorable. Talk to yourself as if you were an outside perspective or a stranger. Ask yourself, ‘What makes you different and special?’ This idea can also lead to self-growth. You can track your progress and see what parts of your life need extra love and appreciation.

2. Enjoy a nice meal

Get yourself that juicy cheeseburger. Indulge in that chocolate cake. Food fuels our bodies and mental health. Treat yourself to that meal you’ve been craving lately. Take yourself out on a dinner date. We all need food, so you might as well make your meal into something special.

3. Wear an outfit that boosts your confidence

Everybody has at least one piece of clothing that makes them feel good. So style it! Wear it around outside or rock it indoors. At the end of the day, clothing is our main source of self-expression, and it’s your own mind that matters. Clothing contributes a lot to confidence, and gives you the power to increase your self-confidence.

4. Buy yourself flowers

This one is simple. Pick out some beautiful flowers or even just a plant. This brings an aspect of life into the indoors and works towards lifting your mentality. Plants also give you something to take care of and watch grow.

5. Take a peaceful walk

Obviously, you would have to bundle up to stay warm in the current weather. However, a short walk, even just 5 minutes, allows for you to clear your mind. I recommend listening to music if walks are something that you find boring. Regardless, fresh air is always a great natural detox and the perfect treat for your mind.

6. Treat yourself to an at-home facial

Spa Day! Sometimes the best thing that you can do for yourself is to throw yourself a spa day at home. It can be as simple as just doing a five-minute face mask or it can be an 8-step facial routine. Maybe light a candle to kick your skincare routine up a notch. Pamper your skin to show it some love, and to appreciate that feel-good energy.
