If you have found yourself with some free time, congrats! Also, how?! If you are tired of rewatching Friends or The Office, may I suggest listening to some podcasts! Here are some of my top podcasts for any mood!

If you love stories but are tired of the same old tales: ‘Myths and Legends’ by Jason Weiser

“Jason Weiser tells tall stories from myths, legends, and folklore that have shaped cultures throughout history. Some, like the stories of Aladdin, King Arthur, and Hercules are stories you think you know, but with surprising origins. Others are stories you might not have heard, but really should. All the stories are sourced from world folklore but retold for modern ears. These are stories of wizards, knights, Vikings, dragons, princesses, and kings from the time when the world beyond the map was a dangerous and wonderful place.”

This is one of my all-time favorite podcasts! They are the perfect storytime for any adult and you get to learn the real truths behind some popular tales. Spoiler alert: Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid is a gruesome story.

If you’re looking for a new true-crime podcast: ‘Female Criminals’ by Parcast Network

“A true-crime podcast where women aren’t just the victims. Every week, we examine the psychology, motivations, and atrocities of female felons.”

LISTEN HERE: https://open.spotify.com/show/7GCKl0vXV9T7GDd2YDbwVa

This was recommended to me by a friend and is a wonderful change in pace if you are looking for some more female influence in your lives. While these women might not be a positive influence, it’s a great break from the typical male-dominated true crime podcasts out there.

If you want some girl talk: ‘Girls Gotta Eat’ by Girls Gotta Eat

“Why do guys just want to f*ck you once then stalk your Instagram forever? Are you being breadcrumbed? What’s the deal with dads sending dick pics? How do you lose a girl in one date? These are all topics discussed on Girls Gotta Eat — a hilarious podcast from the ladies behind Instagram sensations @BrosBeingBasic and @OneHungryJew.”

This is a great podcast and Julia and Rayna are hilarious! They aren’t afraid to talk about literally ANYTHING so expect some amazing dating advice that is relatable and authentic.

If you’re looking for unexpected comedy: ‘Podcast but Outside’ by Cole Hersch and Andrew Michaan

“A podcast, but outside. Hosten by Cole Hersch and Andrew Michaan.”

LISTEN HERE: https://open.spotify.com/show/6iIwe1BJtEgy0AIJrRsGiV

These two guys set up a podcast station at a table outside in LA and interview the people who walk by and give them 1$ for being a guest. This was recommended to me by my older brother (hi Kyle!) who calls it “hysterical.”

If you’re looking for out of the box comedy that tells a story: ‘Dungeons and Daddies’ by Dungeons and Daddies

“A D&D real play podcast about four dads from our world transported into Forgotten Realms and their quest to rescue their songs. Not a BDSM podcast.”

LISTEN HERE: https://open.spotify.com/show/5Sffly5o4mPetmnTR9zsWh

If you’re interested in something completely new: ‘Outside/In’ by New Hampshire Public Radio / Panoply

“Our connection to the outdoors runs deep in our DNA, but our relationship to the natural world can be complicated. From the unintended human costs of clean energy to the murky ethics of high-risk rescue missions to our seemingly eternal conflict with invasive species, we dive headfirst into those complexities with stores, in-depth reporting, and a touch of nerdiness. ”

LISTEN HERE: https://open.spotify.com/show/4C77Rj86ZVejOxfG9yxXyC

This podcast explores our relationships as humans with the natural world. It is super compelling and always manages to portray multiple perspectives, showcasing facts and allowing the listener to think deeper about how they interact with nature.

This is NOT a definitive list of all the awesome podcasts that are out there! Don’t limit yourself and listen to a bunch to find out what best suits your interests. Have fun with these podcasts and get listening!
