10 Eco-Friendly Beauty Brands You Need to Know About

In honor of Earth Day, we’ve chosen some eco-friendly beauty brands that you should all be aware of! They’re super effective, and they’re good for the environment too!

 

1. Lush Cosmetics

Lush is known for its fresh, all natural ingredients, and here’s another reason to love the brand even more: it has recently partnered with Ocean Legacy Foundation to recycle 27 TONS of plastic waste for packaging their products. They’ve also taken steps to make more of their products “naked,” or without packaging to reduce plastic waste. Check out this video from Insider Beauty:

 

2. Tarte Cosmetics

Tarte is one of the few beauty brands that is dermatologist tested, cruelty-free, and vegan friendly. This year for Earth Day, they’ve partnered up with The Beauty Department and created a special makeup kit that donates 20% of its proceeds to Wine to Water, an organization that aims to provide clean drinking water for developing countries.

 

3. Aveda

Aveda’s “green ingredient promise” assures customers that they use only naturally derived ingredients, and they also use post-consumer recycled plastic for their packaging. Fun fact: they also use 100% wind power in their manufacturing plants!

 

4. Ecotools

Ecotools’ line of brushes are made from eco-friendly materials that feel great on your skin! (They’re also very affordable, which is a big plus!)

 

5. Korres

This Greek-inspired brand only uses biodegradable ingredients, recyclable packaging and eco-friendly manufacturing practices! They also have a wide range of makeup and skincare products that make you smell good and look good.

 

6. Burt’s Bees

Besides the fact that half their cosmetics line is made from 100% natural ingredients, Burt’s Bees is also aspiring to become a carbon-free, waste-free company that relies on 100% renewable energy. They also have a strong commitment to preserving animal and human rights!

 

7. Kiss My Face

This special brand is known for its super-affordable, plant-based ingredients and post-consumer recycled packaging. And it also has a beauty line for kids!

 

8. Suki

Suki has a “do no harm” policy: they source fair trade, organic, biodynamic, vegan, and even local products as often as possible with eco-friendly packaging.

 

9. Pangea Organics

Pangea Organics is handmade, all-natural ingredients sourced form local farmers. A bonus: their product biodegrades in 48 hours, unlike regular soaps that could take years!

 

10. Kahina Giving Beauty

This brand focuses on sourcing argan oil (one of their main ingredients) from Morocco, sourcing sustainably, using organic ingredients whenever possible, and using minimal packaging of only recycled and recyclable materials. They also give a percentage of their profits back to programs in Morocco as well.
