Unbe-leaf-able Ways to Bring Autumn Indoors

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Louisiana Tech chapter.

The leaves are falling and the temperature is dropping (sort of). You all know what that means? Autumn has finally returned! I can already picture the pumpkin spice themed foods everywhere. The Summer heat has really taken a toll on us. It is pretty wild how many times fun, outdoor activities were ruined because it was too hot. But now as the rain is starting to drift in, trees are changing colors, and the mosquitos are going away Fall is making its way onto our doorstep. Let’s all embrace her in with open arms.

This article is something that should help give you ideas on how to decorate for this upcoming season.  Whether you live in an apartment or a dorm this can work in many different settings. Usually, the season’s color schemes are red, yellow, and orange; these are also described as warm colors. If you wish to up your decorating skills, try adding glitter or other colors that compliment the Fall colors. For example, the colors brown, purple, gray and various shades of those pigments work splendidly. If you want to skip the season theme, you can jump right into the Halloween decor. That covers the basics of decor to use. Now let us dive more into the world of Autumn decor. (It rhymed so you know that it’s awesome.^_^)

Bring the fall leaves indoors by using garland. It can be bought from any local store in the seasonal section. Unless you are feeling a little crafty collect some fallen leaves from right outside your door. Then attach them to a string and hang them up. They can drift from your ceiling or trail around a door frame.

That old Halloween tradition is not just for the holiday. The second best part about using pumpkins as a decor is you can use various sizes. Grab some small five dollar pumpkins and place them on your desk. Challenge yourself and a friend to grab a medium or large pumpkin and have a decorating contest. You can place them outside your door and have other colleague vote on who had the best one. The very best reason for using pumpkins is to prepare for a visit from your fairy godmother. Never know, you might need a ride to a party in style.

The very smell of pumpkin spice in the air will soothe your soul. Just picture it: you are exhausted after an intense day of school and work. Then as soon as you open your door, you are welcomed in with a delightful scent. I’m feeling relaxed just from describing the scenario. Many stores are coming out with a variety of fall themed candles. If you are living in a dorm, it may be better to use an air diffuser.

Fall is a great season to decorate for, and there are plenty of ways to do it! Any budget can afford these simple changes and make any home more festive for the season.
