Are You an Introvert that Spends too Much Time Binge Watching TV? Here’s Five Things to Make You Feel Accomplished Without Feeling Forced

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Louisiana Tech chapter.

It’s officially the end of another spooky season and I’ve got a clock tickin’ for thanksgiving! Now you’ve probably spent your entire October binge watching your favorite Halloween movies and stuffing your face with snacks. In essence, I was right with you LOL!!

Since the month is over, do you want to let go of that stuck feeling and get a bit active? Being an introvert, I like my alone time very much, but I suffer from extreme bouts of laziness. To remind myself of my awesomely bodacious person, I list 5 possible activities I can do alone and space each activity out for that month. By spreading out each activity, you allow yourself time to prepare mentally and physically.

  1. 15-minute Yoga for relaxation

Yoga is an acquired taste, but it gets the job done. After laying on a couch or bed for hours, your body begins to stiffen up. Your neck, legs, hips, and back feels slightly numb so you constantly twist and turn.

Why not try yoga for a short time to get a nice clear mind with a good body stretch? The only struggle yoga brings is finding the right youtuber. For beginners, I recommend Yoga with Adriene; she takes it nice and slow.

  1. Plant/Leaf collection

Yuck! Who wants to go around picking random leaves?? A collection is more than simply collecting, it’s about becoming one with nature and appreciating it. There’s some joy in going out learning how to identify certain plants or leaves and taking them back home to begin your very own collection. Here’s a link for further instructions on a successful leaf/plant collections.

  1. Cook a meal

A simple home cooked meal can have you feeling like you’re Martha Stewart post jail. Even if you can somehow burn water, I bet if you tried, you’d make a mean spaghetti.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION: I add Tony Chachere’s to everything. Another tip to help you to know you’ve put enough is to keep sprinkling until you sneeze 3 times, and it’ll be great. There’s a 50/50 chance it’ll be really spicy, or it’ll be the best damn dish you ever made.

  1. Picnic

A little bit of fresh air is always refreshing to the mind. There’s always a park or some place nearby that’s rarely crawling with people. Find that place, lay out a blanket, pull out your choice of entertainment, don’t forget your PB&J sandwiches (or whatever snacks you prefer), and kick back to enjoy the breeze. This is YOUR time to do whatever makes your heart feel most content. BASK IN YOURSELF!!

  1. Soak in the tub

I suggest a shower first, so you won’t soak in dirty body water. While you’re filling the tub with hot water, add some drops of your favorite essential oil(s). Once the tub is filled, light some candles, turn off the lights, slide into the tub, close your eyes, and just soak. Relax and take note of your body.

Like I said before, revel in yourself… take the time to slow down in a way that TV can’t help you do!
