Her Writing Infatuation

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kutztown chapter.

Nobody comes into this world knowing exactly what they want. It takes a while to figure that out. Didn’t you stay up past midnight thinking about where you wanted to be in five years? This young girl did and nothing would catch her eye. At one point she thought something was wrong with her. Why didn’t she want to be a nurse or teacher like her classmates? She didn’t understand it, she didn’t realize how creative she was and how those careers simply didn’t appeal to her. Until one day, while she was reading a book, she realized her true calling. She wanted to write a book just like the one she was reading. She wanted to create something that people would love and want to read more of.

She became infatuated with pen and paper. Her child-like mind wrote freely and before she knew it, writing became her second home. She found comfort in it. She knew the paper wouldn’t judge her vast imagination and she loved that. Having that feeling of freedom, never having to hold back in case she said something someone didn’t like. The girl had finally found her way of expressing herself. She had found her safe haven. The girl penned non-stop, bewitched with the way she was finally able to use her imagination for something. Soon enough, writing became something the girl did every single day, she would sit for hours writing what she thought would be the next best selling book. Whether she was cooped up in her bedroom or sitting at the lunch table, she was writing. The same way she couldn’t put down a book until she was done reading was the same thing she wanted people to do with her work.

When she wrote nothing else mattered, time slowed and it was only her and her pen. She imagined everything she placed onto the page. Her heart was put into every sentence she wrote. That’s when she found out that writing was it for her. Her career path had come to her. She was able to find a passion that she didn’t even know she had. Becoming an author is her biggest goal in life, she doesn’t want to do anything other than write.
