I love being away at school. I love the freedom and everything else about it. There is one thing that I really am missing though. My friends from home, who are also away for school, are some of the best people I have ever met. Sure, I have amazing friends at school, but there is something about the friends that I rarely see or speak to. While we are all miles apart for an education, we rarely talk to each other, and by rarely I mean once every couple weeks. Even though we really don’t communicate much during the school year, when we all get home, it feels like we never skipped a beat. We catch up so fast, and it’s so fun to catch up because we all have so much to say. We have too much to say since we don’t communicate much for months.

Occasionally, we’ll FaceTime but those are usually fast, and we all understand that everyone is busy, and when we go home it will just be back to normal. I see my school friends talking to their home friends really often, and I never even think that it is a bad thing that my home friends and I don’t. I still have the best friendships with those ladies, no matter how often we see each other or talk. I do hope that I can visit all of them one more time before graduation at their schools, but we all get that school is a lot of work, and sometimes it’s hard to get that far away. I am so excited for break, though, because I’m missing them now, and in a couple more weeks, we will all be reunited.

Everyone says that you keep your college friends for life, but I plan to keep my high school friends for that long too. Maybe if you don’t talk to your home friends as much as you want to, don’t feel bad about it, just know that you will have so much more to talk about and catch up on when you finally get to spend time together.
