Seeing the boy that you loved for months walk away from you can be overwhelming and  heartbreaking. It can make you feel as if you are worthless or that it was all your fault, even though it wasn’t. It may take a while for you to pick your heart up off the floor and to feel okay again. However, sometimes all a girl needs to get over a boy is her friends, ice cream, and some songs that will bring back the light in her eyes and give her the power to conquer the heartache.  These are the ten songs that I have personally listened on repeat to help me get over someone.

1. Ugly Heart: G.R.L

So maybe, the boy you loved was this great looking guy. Maybe you thought he had a perfect face and beautiful smile. However, his personality, or the way he treated you, was not the best piece of art work you have seen in a museum. This song will shine the light and show you that you are and will be better off without him, especially if he has an ugly heart.

2. Shout Out to My Ex: Little Mix

As much as we all would love to just hate our exes, we do owe them a thank you. I know it sounds strange, but they deserve a round of applause and a thank you because they made you a stronger woman. They may have shattered your heart, but that mishap made you stronger and turned you into the person you are today. The better you. Throughout the whole four minutes of this song, it’s just sassy verses sassy verses, and they most certainly will bring up your spirits.

3. Somebody Else Will: Mickey Guyton

People always remind you that there are other boys out there for you. Maybe you believe them, maybe you don’t. After a break up, you probably just want to lay in bed and cry. However, this song will give you the motivation to wipe off the tears and get up out of the covers. This empowering song let’s you know that if some boy doesn’t love you, like he should, somebody else will. There is a boy out there who will find you to be the most amazing person and would love you the way you should be.

4. IDGAF: Dua Lipa

Sometimes a boy will leave you and then go about his life. Then suddenly, once you are doing better, he realizes his mistakes and probably will try to crawl back. He’ll say sorry a hundred times and beg for you to take him back. This song will remind you that his now “sorry” is too late.

5. Sad Girls Club: Cimorelli

So maybe, after a break up you feel dumb for crying over a boy who treated you wrong. Maybe you’re thinking you are too much because you are going through so many emotions. Whenever you are beating yourself up because of certain feelings you are feeling, this is the song that you should play. This song lets you know that it is okay to cry and that no matter how hard you fall or break you should never give up on love.

6. Just a Name: Megan and Liz

When your heart is finally healed and you are noticing that you are crying less and smiling more, this is the song to  loudly sing along with in your car. This song is all about how at some point, once the sky clears, you notice that you don’t freeze up when you hear his name anymore and you think of him less because now, he’s just another name.

7. Comeback Kid: Against the Current

This song will give you the strength to walk away from the boy that broke your heart. This song will inspire you to get back up even after falling to pieces. The best revenge to give is the kind where you stand back up, fix your makeup, and smile; showing him that he can’t hold you down any longer. It’s time be that comeback kid and shine away.

8. Lonely Call: Raelynn

The best way to get over a boy is by breaking all contact with him. I know that it is a lot easier said than done, but eventually, you need to stop answering that phone and just let it ring. This song is a reminder that you are worth more than his lonely call, so let it go to voice mail because he was the one that wanted to walk away.

9. The Day You Stop Looking Back: Thomas Rhett

You can move forward if you keep turning your head to view the past. The day you stop looking back, you will find that you are better off without him and that you do not need him in order to be happy. When you stop turning around and keep your head forward, you may just find a new love with someone who will appreciate you for you. This is exactly what the song is all about. It’s about moving on by not staring into the past.

10. I Look So Good Without You: Jessie James

You do not need a boy to make you feel pretty, fearless, confident or worthy of love. If you are struggling to feel beautiful after a breakup, or have had your confidence knocked down a few inches, grab your headphones and get in your best dress and dance around while singing loudly at the top of your lungs. You will begin to feel like your old self when the song begins to end.
