Meet your new style blogger: Ashley Hight. Born in Orange County, Calif., Ashley has been a diva since day one. I interviewed her and got the lowdown on her style.
Who is your fashion inspiration?“Miley Cyrus circa 2011 and Nichole Richie. They are so versatile with their wardrobe.”
What is your closet must-have?“Skirts and patterns. I wear skirts in the summertime almost everyday.”
What is your favorite perfume?“Miss Dior. I have a fear of smelling bad.”
Who inspires you the most?“My mama. She’s learned a lot in life and has taught me her lessons but leaves me to explore life on my own.”
Ashley’s favorite style is 90’s grunge fed by the accessible styles of Urban Outfitters and Free People. Given a $500 gift card to any store, Ashley would pick Nordstrom because they sell everything from stilettoes to leather jackets.
Let’s talk about more than 100 pairs of shoes. Yes, Ashley is obsessed with shoes. Her top brands are Jeffery Campbell and nastygal.com. However, working as an intern for ASOS, an online shopping brand, has given Ashley some perks like shoes, accessories, clothing and more.
Ashley can be most found on campus in her brown Kate Spade sunglasses.
“I wear sunglasses like no one’s business,” she said. In elementary school, Ashley even quit soccer because the team did not let her wear her shades.
Outside of blogging for Her Campus, Ashley is a full-time student here at the University majoring in strategic communications, and minoring in sociology. She is also a member and the social chair of Alpha Gamma Delta, an ASOS intern, and works at Target. “Not many people know that I work at Target, but I love my job.”
Another little known fact about Ashley is that she is a black belt in Taekwondo. She got her belt at age 11 and is still practicing while here at the University. To get a black belt, you have to attend etiquette school, be enrolled in health and fitness courses, and write essays about leadership and respect.
