NEW CHANGES TO X
According to, “Elon Musk Floats Charging Users for X”, the authors explain Musk’s new revenue generating concept to protect users against bot accounts and scams. But X users are not happy about Musk’s new revenue generating requirements, aka charging a subscription fee.
Will other platforms follow suit?
STIRRING THE POT
Musk revealed he is currently rebuilding his advertising business due to the loss of marketing staff, resulting in revenue loss of 60%. However, on Musk’s other business venture, SpaceX, he has recently hired a 14-year-old boy to work as a software engineer for the company. This is bad press for Musk because on one front, he is losing staff and, on another front, he is violating child labor ethics. Moving forward, it is unclear what Musk will decide to do next.
Hmm…?
As a consumer of social media, it is concerning to see these changes take effect because of the vast power and authority that Musk holds nationally and globally. Further, several ethical concerns arise from Musk’s new business objectives, including censorship, user’s mental health, privacy protections, antisemitic/hate posts, fraud, and child labor.
The Future
Will the future look like The Matrix, 1984, The Social Dilemma, or any number of dystopian Sci-Fi movies?
It is up to the youth to sway the world in a better direction.
