It’s time for a marathon: 5 TV shows that you won’t want to stop watching

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

Now that we’re back from spring break, the time has come to crack open the textbooks, take out the notecards, and resume college life . Of course, this is easier said than done. In the age of Netflix accounts, it’s pretty easy to convert marathonning a TV show into an activity that is a whole other kind of productive…Whether you’re looking for something witty, suspenseful, funny, or glamorous–we’ve got you covered. So press the popcorn button on your microwave, curl up with a cup of hot cocoa (or maybe even iced tea, depending on the weather!), and enjoy the show.

Alias

Although the first few episodes aren’t quite as enticing or action-packed as the rest of the season, it’s worth the wait. Created by J.J. Abrams in 2001, Alias follows Sydney Bristow (AKA Jennifer Garner) who plays a unique undercover agent for the CIA. You’ll be hooked after the first season, trust me.

Parks and Recreation

Need a funny show to lift your mood? Don’t worry, four seasons of Amy Poehler and her crew can currently be streamed on Netflix’s Instant Watch! Still unsure about Parks and Rec? This will definitely convince you.

Mad Men

It’s set in the 1960s, but the characters, clothing, and concept are sure to allure any modern-day TV fanatic. With four seasons easily accessible on Netflix, this glamorous show is worthy of many a marathon. Plus, if you’re looking to get your friends together for a fun night in, Mad Men is also the perfect theme for a throwback night of ‘60s culture.

24

Since the viewer follows the amazing cast of characters hour-by-hour in real time, 24 is sure to get you staring at your computer screen quickly. If you’re looking for action and suspense, this is the television show for you to marathon!

Modern Family

Although Modern Family isn’t at your fingertips on Netflix, the extra effort for a Walmart trip to buy the DVDs will be worth it. Or, if you’re still trying to decide which show to marathon and would like to sample Mod Fam, there are a few episodes available on Hulu. Modern Family is fantastic not only for its down-to-earth, humorous family moments, but also for the life lessons that are seamlessly incorporated into the show.  Be sure to check it out!

Editor’s Note: Also, in case you’re not already addicted–and avoid at all costs if the next week is super busy for you…but I would be remiss not to mention HOMELAND. Just. So. Good.
