Why I Still Wear Crocs (And You Should Too)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

We have all seen the memes, Crocs are known for a lot of things, namely being, “the ugliest shoe ever.” But, let’s face it, we all love Crocs and you know it.

Here are the many reasons why I love Crocs.

There is something extremely nostalgic to me about Crocs. I grew up wearing Crocs and I have had 4 different pairs over the years. I used to wear them when I was really young and even then didn’t have a pair for a long time. I started wearing them again in high school because I wanted a shoe I could slip on but still wear with socks. Ever since then, Crocs have been a go-to shoe.

Crocs are super comfortable, compared to other shoes with similar functions, like flip flops or Toms, Crocs are the most comfortable. They have two options to be worn for different needs. You can choose to have the strap on your heel to keep them secure or on the front for a convenient slip-on. This makes them my favorite slip-on shoe.

They come in basically every color. The Crocs store is a literal rainbow. If you are looking for a pop of color, Crocs are perfect. It is the most socially acceptable shoe to have in a random neon color, even if it doesn’t match your outfit because people know that‘s the beauty of Crocs.

You can decorate them to your liking. This was the most exciting part for me as a kid. I had so many jibbetz with all kinds of things that I enjoyed. I had a flower, a soccer ball and later I even had Marvel jibbetz. You can even get letters to spell out virtually anything.

Crocs are great for warm weather. I most enjoy wearing my Crocs in the spring and summer, but I even wear them in some colder months with socks. Crocs are basically great for any weather except for the rain and snow. They are a great alternative to flip-flops and go with any outfit.

They are the number one water shoe. If you are going to a river or lake to swim and want to protect your feet from sharp rocks, Crocs are there for you. They are perfectly waterproof and can be easily cleaned. In addition, they float so just in case one falls off your foot you are sure to retrieve it.

Even with their meme-ful reputation, Crocs remain one of my favorite shoes and one of the most versatile shoes on the market.
