What did you wish for as a little girl? What were your biggest hopes and dreams?

At some point in your life, you made a list. 10 things to do before you die, goals for the next year, a bucket list. You make these lists and forget about them. Have you ever stumbled upon an old one? I have. Looking back on my wishes and dreams is a strange feeling that I would highly recommend. Seeing what I have accomplished and reimagining the dreams I lost sight of, or just laughing at the unrealistic possibility of my claims, is highly entertaining and puts things into perspective. Here’s my list from 2011:

10 Things to Do Before I Die (2011)

1. Model in New York Fashion Week

2. Go to the Eiffel Tower in France

3. Perform on stage with Taylor Swift

4. Go on a family vacation to the Bahamas

5. Live in an upscale penthouse in New York

6. Have a room as a closet just for shoes and another twice the size for clothes

7. Be in an episode of Glee

8. Go shopping on Sunset Blvd. and Rodeo Dr. in California

9. Go to camp for six-weeks

10. Eat German chocolate in Germany

When I was 13 years old, I made this list and it seems like some of these dreams are a lifetime ago. Some are a little far fetched (like performing on stage with Taylor Swift), but you can always dream, right? And some are no longer possible (considering Glee when off the air, I think I missed my chance). However, some of my goals were accomplished without any recollection of writing them down. Passing a test in school is always great, but achieving a goal set specifically for yourself is even greater.

It is crazy to see how things have changed. It is interesting to see what I wrote down and no longer wish for. I no longer want to model in New York Fashion Week, but dream for the chance to sit in the audience or volunteer at one of the shows. As we grow older and have to deal with real life “adult things” (like bills and a job) our personal goals, dreams and wishes seem to shift and become more realistic and logical.

What do you wish to accomplish? In the next year, or before you die? I challenge you to make a list… and forget about it. When you discover it again, see what you can cross off. If it is everything, one thing or nothing, it doesn’t matter. Who cares if your dreams are crazy, the only thing that matters is that you believe in yourself.

Take 10 minutes and wish like you are a kid again. Who knows what your future self will thank you for.

Bucket List (2015)

1. Study abroad in Florence, Italy

2. Make Deans/Presidents List

3. Go to New York Fashion Week

4. Get and internship with a sustainable fashion company or in New York City

5. Go on a family vacation to somewhere warm and sunny

6. Go on a road trip with friends

7. TRAVEL (France, Spain, Greece, Germany…)

8. Go parasailing

9. Swim in the Dead Sea and/or clear ocean water

10. Be succesfull and happy
