Surround yourself with people who lift you higher
When in the crazy life of college, find others who make the stress of college melt away. Find great roommates, branch out to the kid you sit next to in class, join a sorority, even sit with someone you’ve never met before at the food court, and you’ll be surprised how easy it is to find that group you can depend on that makes the stressful life of college a little bit more bearable.
Dreams don’t work unless you do
Even if you choose a major that suits you and your goals, you still won’t get that dream job unless you work for it. I’m not talking about just showing up to class every day. I’m talking about studying an extra hour for that test, joining an extracurricular to make that resume look bomb, achieving a goal and then setting a goal even higher than that. Think of it like you’re working out- if you make it to the gym, congrats, but if you don’t put in the effort, you won’t see the results you want.
Be fearless in the pursuit that sets your soul on fire
There are hundreds of thousands of people out the studying to do exactly what you want to do. It’s normal to have doubt about your dreams but never fear who you aspire to be. As a broadcast journalism major, I know there is always going to be someone better than me, but that inspires me to work even harder so I’m better than someone else. My mom always says “someone’s gotta do it”, so why can’t you be that person?
Do something today that your future self will thank you for
Yes, in college it is so easy to procrastinate, but when you have free time, knock out things you have to do that you can work ahead in, and college will never consume you. Every single assignment you do in college allows you to gain knowledge that will benefit you in your career someday.
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams
This is my favorite quote because it sums up why you decided to go to college. You want to be someone you can’t be without that college degree and you believe in yourself. The future is for planners who see a vision for themselves in whatever they choose to dedicate their life to. The future is beautiful if you work your way towards the end goal of success. The future belongs to you!
