I love the place I’m at in my life right now. I’m learning new things, gaining very valuable experience, meeting amazing people, and having fun while I’m at it. Sometimes all of the things that I’m doing weighs on me and the expectations seem impossible to live up to. I get stressed out all of the time. I need something to help me focus my energy, calm down and find balance; and, be more conscious or intentional about things I put into the universe. I’ve been getting overwhelmed by a lot of things lately, which led me to visit my first metaphysical store.

I’d heard that crystals and metaphysical healing can help to strengthen your mind, connect with yourself, and connection with those around you/the world. With that in mind, I decided to try it out. I like to keep an open mind about alternative approaches to things and this was one thing I’d been curious about for a while. So, I took a trip to one of the highest-rated metaphysical stores in my area.

The entire trip–there and back–took about an hour. On the way there, I tried to guess what would happen once I got to the store. Maybe I’d ask the store owner for help and advice. Maybe I’d get a reading while I was there. Maybe I’d be too shy and intimidated by everything and everyone to do anything and I’d leave empty-handed. When I finally found the place and walked in, it wasn’t anything that I’d expected. The space was small and pretty intimate. The lighting was warm and the atmosphere felt very inviting. I was the only one in the store beside the two owners, so that made it easier to ask for help.

The owner and resident expert advised me to take a walk around the table and let my intuition guide me to the crystals that “felt right”. I don’t know about y’all, but I don’t have a lot of experience just letting my intuition guide me anywhere. I’m the type of person to think things through fully, research, and plan things way too far ahead of time. This was one of the only spur-of-the-moment things I’ve done in a while. Because of that, it took me about three or four circles of the table to let go of my resistance and thoughts–to just do it. But, once I did, I found that it was a lot easier than I expected. Without looking at how pretty the crystals are or trying to read their information cards, I picked up the ones that seemed to call to me. I ended up leaving with about five. And, surprisingly, they all help to attract and activate things and energies that I desperately need–things I’m actively trying to work on for myself.

That trip was almost two weeks ago. Even though I haven’t had much time to work with the crystals or the books that I got that day, I truly think this was the start of something new. I sleep with one under my pillow. I take one to work with me. The skeptic in me wants to say that I’ve been feeling better and experiencing life better simply because I believe the actions I’m taking are working–like a placebo effect or something. But, it really does feel like they’re helping and working for me. I’m still learning about them and crystals aren’t the only things I’m using to work on myself. However, I do think the trip and experience was worth it. In fact, if there’s a metaphysical store near you, I recommend that you go and see what it’s all about for yourself.

So, that’s my experience at my first metaphysical store. I know not everyone can relate to something like this. But, if you do, and you’re curious about crystals or metaphysical healing, give it a try! If it works for you, great! If not, that’s okay too! At the very least, you’ll learn about something new and I don’t think that’s ever a waste of time. It certainly wasn’t for me.
