DateMySchool Launches at Kean

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kean chapter.

It’s no secret that meeting the perfect guy is not an easy task for most women, but for collegiettes with a hectic schedule it can be nearly impossible. At one point or another we’ve all been disheartened by the quest to find love, and we constantly hear the complaints of friends, classmates and co-workers that there are just no good guys out there. But the reality is that there are plenty of great guys, many of whom we pass by every day while rushing to class but never notice.

Luckily, a fairly new online dating service that has just launched at Kean can help turn those dull daily encounters into dates. DateMySchool is helping students all over the country make connections with people on their campus who they would otherwise never meet.

Balazs Alexa and Jean Meyer, Columbia University MBA classmates, founded DateMySchool in 2010 in hopes of helping academically driven students with busy schedules meet new people at Columbia and other surrounding universities.  Since then, DateMySchool has grown into the large scale nationwide college dating website it is now with over 100,000 users from across 1,000 schools.

While testimonials by those lucky enough to meet their soul mate on other major dating sites might trigger our curiosity, many of us remain embarrassed to give online dating a try ourselves, but DateMySchool eliminates that feeling entirely!

Unlike other dating services, DateMySchool is a dating platform just for students and alumni from select schools. A college email address is needed to sign up so you can focus on finding a date with someone from Kean or a surrounding university who has a similar schedule, academic and career goals and understands the college lifestyle.

Even more appealing than the need for members to have a college email is that you can remain anonymous. This means you are completely unsearchable on Google! You can also control who sees your profile through filtering by school, program and age. Not only do these awesome privacy options eliminate the embarrassment factor that sometimes comes along with online dating, but they cut out men you might find creepy or unappealing on less exclusive dating sites.

Check out these articles from The Atlantic Wire, CNN and The New York Times to hear some success stories and find out more about the benefits DateMySchool has to offer!  And of course don’t forget to go to DateMySchool.com to sign up and see the cute video on the home page!
