Your Favorite Work-out Playlist!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

I don’t know about you, but when I work out I need some good tunes to keep me motivated mid-run or mid-crunch! The worst thing to happen is to be jamming out while running and all of a sudden the next song comes on and it’s Come Away With Me by Norah Jones. As much as I love Norah’s soft voice, she only works for me when I am ready to take a nap. Even if you don’t work out a lot, a work-out playlist may give you the motivation you need to work out (or just jam out).

Here are a few songs I personally love to run to:

  1. Girl Talk – Anything by Girl Talk is worthy enough to run to. The beat and rhythm to each song is energetic and makes you want to move, or in this case run! I rarely press next when I hear this artist while working out.
  2. Rihanna – Anything from Hard to Rock Me Out by Rihanna can really help me enjoy my run. Not only can I run to the beats but I can sing along.
  3. Fabolous – The song You Be Killin Em’.  Just listen to it; you’ll know why.
  4. The Black Eyed Peas – Many of their songs are fitness-y. I highly recommend blasting some BEP when you work out, I’m favorable to the album The Beginning and the song Fashion Beats.
  5. Britney Spears – Enough said.
  6. Missy Elliot – Anything from Pass That Dutch to Work It makes me want to run even farther – check it out!
  7. Sugar Junkie – This is a band I know from Maryland. I always have them on my running playlist.  Songs like Babe, Study Abroad, and Hollywood keep me on pace.
  8. TLC – No Scrubs is by far my favorite song to have come on when I’m working out.
  9. The White Panda – I never heard of this artist until I was on 8Tracks.com one day, but Stereo Hands is a mashup that works for me.
  10. Beyonce – Party and Countdown. I don’t think there needs to be an explanation for Beyonce!
