One of my favorite gifts to get is the stocking my parents pack for me each Christmas, filled to the top with different goodies to last me all the way until next holiday season. Giving a friend or family member a little stocking filled with different necessities and treats is a perfect gift that’s universal for everyone and can be customized to your recipient. Here’s a few ideas for some things to put in someone’s stocking this Christmas:

Needs: This ranges from hygiene products to clothing items like socks, but they’re gifts that would be nonetheless appreciated by (and useful to) anyone who receives your perfectly curated stocking.

  • Toothbrushes, toothpaste, or floss
  • Shampoo, conditioner, body wash or hand sanitizer
  • Socks, gloves, a hat, or underwear

Trinkets: I love getting little things like toys or random items that aren’t necessarily a need, but just a fun thing I can use that makes life a little bit more fun or enjoyable.

  • Bath bombs, bath salts, or bubble bath
  • Sample/travel sized makeup (eyeliner, powdered/cream blush or bronzer, lip gloss)
  • Hair ties, a hairbrush, headbands, or hair clips
  • Books, mugs, or reusable water bottles

Another thing you can do is base your stocking stuffer off of your recipient’s likes and interests. Do they love Taylor Swift? Get a keychain with lyrics on it or some stickers to go on their water bottle. Has your friend loved Harry Potter since middle school? Look at getting them a poster or a tote bag. Websites like Redbubble and Etsy are filled with small businesses and independent artists that have uniquely incredible designs. They’re my personal favorite places to shop when holidays or events come around. Whether your stocking gifts are universal or more specific, feel free to get creative! What matters at the end of the day is the thought of the gift, not the quantity or price of them.
