The weather is FINALLY warming up, and we all know what that means: sundresses, day-drinks, and zero motivation.  As the semester is coming to an end, students find it increasingly difficult to stay on top of their schoolwork.  Who wants to go to class when you can get your tan on?  “Spring Fever” is something many of us have experienced, and it’s bound to continue to affect college students all over the globe.  So what can we do about it?  Here are a few ways to stay on top of things while the sun is shining outside:

1. Think about your goal

The ultimate goal of going to college is to get your degree with the best grades possible.  This is not going to happen if you are neglecting your studies for tanning and darties.  Sure, these sound enticing in the moment, but think about the ultimate consequences.  A drop in your GPA is NOT worth the fun you’d be having otherwise.

2. Do homework outside!

Finding it painful to stare out the window at the people relaxing on the quad?  Bring your books outdoors!  Find a shady spot, or lie out in the sun and do some reading.  The Vitamin D will clear your head, and you won’t feel like you’re missing out.  Just be careful of flying frisbees!

3. Reward yourself

Provide yourself with rewards for going to class or finishing an assignment.  After a long day of studying, go out for ice cream with friends.  After acing a test, buy yourself a new sundress.  It is important to focus on schoolwork while still enjoying the beautiful weather and outdoors.

I hope each and every one of you doesn’t get too bad a case of “Spring Fever” this season and finishes the semester off strong.  Keep your goal in mind, try studying outside, and reward yourself for hard work.  Summer will be here before you know it!
