Pinterest Perfection

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Remember MySpace? Some of us probably do, but Facebook quickly replaced the old site and dominated the social media scene by the time we graduated high school. Then, soon enough, there was a Twitter take-over.  And Tumblr.  And FourSquare. Let’s face it collegiettes,Ô our world is flooded with online outlets. But what’s the newest fad out there today?

Pinterest is a virtual pinboard where users can post just about anything. If you like something you see, it’s as easy as a click to post it to your own virtual pinboard. You can also make different boards if you want to organize your newest findings. And you can find just about anything – no, really, anything. From recipes to workouts, crafts to clothes, you can search or stumble upon anything your looking for. With links to original postings, you can figure out how to make a phone-charging holder out of a lotion bottle (seriously!).

You can even download a Pinterest smart phone app so you can pin on-the-go!

Sophomore, Suzanne Dunn, has been pinning since last semester. She said it has given her some “great ideas” but is “dangerous.” She advises to not explore this website when you have a lot of assignments or even worse, during midterms of finals!

So how do you become a part of the Pinterest pandemic?  Strangely, this up-and-coming website is a bit selective being invite-only ladies. If you don’t feel like waiting around for an invite from Pinterest itself, just find one of your friends who is already a member and have her invite you personally.

Don’t feel obligated to join, though! You can easily browse through tons and tons of pins without signing up. Although you won’t be able to personally pin things to your board, you can still browse and search for anything you can imagine.

So get pinning…  or procrastinating!
