Leading Ladies: Female Characters we Should Be Looking up to

“Leading Ladies: Female Characters we Should Be Looking up to”

Collegiettes, it’s 2012, and it is obvious that leading women roles are taking over the silver screen. What is sexier to guys than a girl who knows her stuff, a girl that takes the lead? Well, nothing is. So take some advice from the on screen ladies we’ve come to love over the years (and most recently)…

  •
  • Rose Dewitt Bukater: Titanic

This classy lady didn’t take her clothes off for just anyone. Raised with morals by her wealthy family, Rose knew what the difference was between a total tool bag and a genuine, kindhearted guy. She set the standard for all of us and made us realize that even though the tool bag is nicely dressed and comes from a wealthy family, it is more important to follow your heart. I mean who could resist Jack?  He may be poor and have dirty long johns, but he knows what’s real and sees behind the glitz and glamour of money with his sensitive, artistic, and humorous personality. We as women appreciate your sense of freedom when you stripped nude for Jack’s portrait, Rose —the act of defiance for your true love makes us fall in love with fighting for what you want!

Hermione Granger: Harry Potter

Sure, we all thought Hermione was a huge know-it-all and annoying when first introduced. But come on, she enters the first Harry Potter movie in such a “head b**** in charge” way that an impression was definitely made. She owns any question asked in class and as a member of Gryffindor, never lets her team down. She, being best friends with two guys, has a confident and trusting personality that works in her favor. But lets get serious: having guys as best friends always makes other girls jealous that you are and other guys wishing you were their best friend. Though her jealousy gets the better of her when Ron starts hittin’ on other chicks, she still has the best snippy statements when Draco Malfoy hates on her Muggle background. This girl’s bravery and loyalty for her friends makes her one badass wizard.

Katniss Everdeen: The Hunger Games

Braid your hair, grab your bow and arrow and go get dinner. Katniss totally knows what’s up when she is hunting for meals for her family. Not only is her determination admirable, but also her skills in the forest put her at the top for badass female movie stars. The unfortunate “Hunger Game” she was admitted in with Peeta only proved more that she knew what she was doing. Seriously, can you imagine tying yourself in a tree to sleep? (No… ) She’s that badass! While making out in caves with Peeta to thinking of her hot hunting partner from District 12, Gale, this girl still has focus to succeed in the end. Scarred up and bruised, Katniss didn’t have one worry about her looks. She owned the playing field and flaunted her looks. A cut on your forehead is the new black at the Cornucopia! So thank you, Katniss Everdeen, we appreciate your strength and power to win in the end and to have every guy fall hard for you.

Aria Montgomery: Pretty Little Liars

Sure, all the PLL crew are badass girls but Aria’s everlasting bravery makes her stand out among the rest. Not only does this high school diva dress original and risqué, she has the most passionate and secretive love affair with her young hot teacher, Mr. Fitz. Their first meeting in the bathroom of the bar was beyond sexy and every encounter we see now makes us root for their relationship. Yeah, so it’s totally illegal and whatever but Aria fights for her love and never backs down from A’s tyranny. She expresses such a confidence that all girls should adopt and it works in her favor – scoring guys like Noll Conn and Jason DiLaurentis. Her loyalty to her BFF’s is extremely admirable. She responds to every SOS text message with all intentions to help her homies. So yeah, she’s lucky to be dating her hot English teacher and is misunderstood by her parents but let’s get real—she is one brave little liar!
