Time to go get your favorite mug, make yourself some coffee, and sit down with me.

Sunday scaries, we all know them and we all dread them…. The last thing I want to think about after a long weekend of late nights and socializing is all the homework I have due. What I really want to do is to wrap myself up in a burrito made of my puffy white comforter and hide in bed all day long. However, you and I both know that plan is not going to work. We are going to get through the scariest day of the week together.

Step 1: Skincare, Shower, Brush Teeth

The most basic ways to care for yourself can make a world of difference. Let’s be real here. I know that you might have slept in your makeup a night or two this weekend. Hey, no judgment. We all do it! Getting your hygiene together is the best way to make you feel like yourself again. My favorite way of getting my skin back is to throw on a face mask for 10 minutes.

Step 2: Healthy Breakfast

I know, I know… Dunkin breakfast is calling your name. It’s calling mine and I am caving! But we need to stay strong. Making a healthy breakfast filled with extra veggies and fruits is gonna boost you with vitamins to get you energized and motivated. My go-to breakfast right now is avocado toast with sliced tomato and a fried egg, seasoned with salt and pepper of course. Another favorite of mine and an amazing way to pump nutrients into your body is a smoothie!! This is a great way to get extra water back into your body.

Step 3: Find your inspiration

I use to sit and watch morning routines on Youtube religiously. C’mon don’t tell me you didn’t. Seriously, it was such an amazing way to motivate me to clean, workout, study, make coffee, and just get my life a little more organized when I saw someone else doing it.

Step 4: Don’t put pressure on yourself

This is the most important step you can take away from this article. Let yourself rest, enjoy your morning, clear your mind. If you are exhausted or stressed you really won’t be able to get your work done properly! It is crucial to listen to what your body is telling you and if that is saying to lay in bed an extra hour, do it!

Pause* sip coffee

Step 5: Clean

Before you start thinking about work, you need a clean space. Just as you cleaned yourself and ate a clean breakfast, you need a clean room. Start some laundry for the week, vacuum your floor, put all your makeup back in the organizer. The little things make a massive difference to your mentality on getting work done.

Step 6: Plan and get work done

We have prepped for this! This is the time when you sit down and write out what is a priority to get done today and what can wait. If you have a massive project or exam this week, break up the work! Don’t feel overwhelmed looking at the big picture. The small picture is what will allow you to be as productive as possible.

Step 7: Ease your mind for the week

After you have completed your work, take time to relax again. I love to do this through yoga, meditation, and coloring! Put on your favorite show or some LoFi music, light a candle, and just color. Being creative allows you to open the other side of your brain that you weren’t using and I find it has a calming effect on me. Going to bed with stress and worry thinking about the week ahead isn’t going to be a good start. Be proud of the work you got done. If you didn’t get all the work you wanted to do, it is okay. Tell yourself it is okay! Easing your mind and getting ready for bed is not something to be passed upon in your journey of getting rid of the Sunday Scaries.

Now that I have written this article and you have read it, let’s get started! We got this. We are going to hold each other accountable for getting back on track for the week. I hope you have an amazing day and an amazing week ahead.

Drinking coffee is definitely my favorite personality trait. Along with that I love all things self care, beauty, fashion, art, and lifestyle!
