5 Netflix Originals to Watch When You’re Done with Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

With finals behind us and the sweet promise of summer ahead, there’s honestly nothing that sounds better than laying down and watching some good old Netflix. Here are five of the most binge-able Netflix Original shows and movies to watch to kick off your summer the right way (which is by sitting on the couch).

1. Queer Eye

This show is so amazing that no explanation will ever do it justice. This reboot of the original Queer Eye for the Straight Guy features a group of five men appropriately named the “Fab Five” who completely revamp the lives of guys who could use some help. Not only is this show entertaining, but it’s also heartwarming. It will make you laugh, cry, and scream “YAS!!!” all in the same episode, and who could ever ask for more?

2. When We First Met

If you’re in the mood to watch a cute and funny Rom-Com that makes you feel good, look no further. When We First Met is about a man, played by Adam DeVine, who keeps going back in time in an attempt to get a girl to fall in love with him. I admit I went in with low expectations thinking this movie would be incredibly cheesy, but after watching it, I was completely surprised at how funny and entertaining the storyline was.

3. The OA

The OA is one of Netflix’s biggest hidden gems. It tells the story of a blind woman who went missing seven years ago and suddenly returns home, except now she’s mysteriously able to see again. This show has twists and turns in every episode that will make you want to keep watching, making it incredibly binge-able. But I warn you, once it’s over, you won’t want to wait for season two!

4. The End of the F***ing World

This show was so good that I shamelessly watched it all in one sitting. This show is about two teenagers who go on a road trip, while one of them (who is a self-defined psychopath) is plotting to kill the other. Even though this sounds like it could be in the horror genre, it’s actually a comedy with dark humor mixed with plenty of heartwarming moments. Each episode is also only around 20 minutes long, which makes it easier to watch (or binge).

5. The Babysitter

If you’re a fan of the horror comedy genre, this flick is for you. The Babysitter, which stars Bella Thorne, is about a boy whose seemingly awesome babysitter turns out to be a member of a satanic cult that likes to kill. This is another movie I watched that I expected to be bad, but it turns out that I was completely wrong, and instead, was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
