5 Great Makeup Dupes to Save you Money

We’ve all been there. Paying way too much for a name brand product in a makeup store and later feeling the guilt that comes along with spending so much money on such a little item. Trust me, I’ve been there so many times so I began looking for cheaper versions of these products. Over the course of trial and error, I have figured out some amazing and price friendly makeup dupes.

The NYX Micro Brow Pencil instead of the Anastasia Brow Wiz.

The NYX Micro Brow Pencil is basically the twin sister of the Anastasia Brow wiz. It even has the same design with one end a spoolie and the other end the pencil. This great design makes it easy to brush out those unruly brow hairs and then fill them in to get that perfect brow no matter the shape. Anastasia Brow Wiz is $23 at its cheapest in all makeup stores, meanwhile the NYX Micro Brow Pencil can be found on amazon for just $4.99! That’s the cheapest place to find it, although you can still get it at drug stores and makeup stores for $10. By using the NYX Micro Brow Pencil you will be saving yourself $18. That’s $18 more to spend on other makeup, or maybe to put towards your savings for that vacation you really want.

The Maybelline Superstay 24 2-step Liquid Lipstick versus Lipsense.

The Maybelline Superstay 24 2-step Liquid Lipstick is a perfect match for Lipsense. In my opinion from using both, Maybelline Lipstick is even better. In my experience using Lipsense, it didn’t stay on for very long. I used it for Prom in highschool and by halfway through taking pictures it was gone. It never completely dried and I honestly don’t think it’s worth the price. I have used the Maybelline Lipstick multiple times and I have always been satisfied with it and there are plenty of shades to choose from for only $7.99 at Target. Whereas, Lipsense is $25 for a single tube and then you also have to buy the gloss or the matte topper for it. Maybe she’s born with it, or maybe it’s just a better product to put your money into.

The NYX Angel Veil Primer is the dupe of The Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer.

The NYX Angel Veil Primer is literally sent from angels to us makeup lovers. It has been my go to primer for the past couple years. It smoothes out my skin and gives a great base for my foundation to stick to. I have also used the Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer and in my opinion the NYX one works just the same. I love Smashbox, don’t get me wrong, you just save a lot more money going with NYX. You can get the NYX Angel Veil Primer for $16 at Target. The Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer sells for $32 at walmart. Give Angel Veil a try, you won’t regret it.

Elf High Definition Powder in place of The Tarte Shape Tape Setting Powder.

Both of these brands are absolutely wonderful. I love Elf and how inexpensive all of their makeup is and it is pretty good quality for the most part. I also love Tarte, it’s honestly probably my favorite makeup brand. When it comes to powder for makeup, both of these do a great job. Elf is just insanely cheaper. I also compared the ingredients of these two products and they’re almost the same. Elf High Definition Powder sells for $6 at Target and Tarte Shape Tape Setting Powder sells for $34 on the Tarte website and for even more in Sephora, $12 more. That’s almost $30 you could be saving yourself, or giving to your local animal shelter to support those sweet, sweet animals.

Essence Lash Princess Mascara and Volume Booster Lash Primer instead of Virtually Any Other Mascara.

I recently found out about the amazingness of Essence mascara and the wonders it can do to your lashes. I decided to give it a try instead of my usual Better than Sex Mascara from Too Faced, and let me say I was in shock. My lashes had so much life in them and honestly this is the closest I’ve ever come to them looking like false lashes without actually using false lashes. They lengthen your natural lashes so much and add that extra volume I craved for my lashes. The mascara also didn’t clump and went on nice and smooth. Any of the Lash princess mascara’s are $4.99. Personally, I’ve used the False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara (Which was my favorite) and the Volume Mascara from Essence, but I would be willing to bet that any of the lash princess mascara from there would be just as good. And that primer works wonders for lengthening and creating a perfect base for the mascara to grasp on to. The primer is also $4.99. You can buy all of this from Essencemakeup.com. Take some of that other money you saved from the previous dupes and give this mascara a try. It’ll be worth it when you see those beautiful long lashes.
