Philau’s Halloween Rundown

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

It’s almost Halloweekend, and there’s plenty to do around Philau, for both 21+ and non-21+. Off campus and on campus, don’t miss out on these awesome events.

1.       Humans vs. Zombies

Hosted by: the Animation Club

When/Where: Doors open at 11pm on Friday night (30th) at Kanbar Student Center

What: This after-hours game of Nurf-tag is a Philau Halloween tradition. Get ready to run around Kanbar taking down your zombified classmates and trying very hard not to get “bitten.” Bring your own Nurf blaster or rent one there.

2.       Nightmare on Main Street

Hosted by: Mad River Bar and Grille

When/Where: 8-11pm Saturday night (31st) at 4100 Main Street, Manayunk

What: For our over 21 Colligates, Mad River is hosting their costume contest and Halloween bash, with $500 in prizes. For a nearby destination, Mad River is easily within walking distance, or a fairly cheap Uber.

3.       Walking Ghost Tour of Philadelphia

Hosted by: Philly Ghost Tours

When/Where: 7:30 or 9:30pm on Friday or Saturday (30th or 31st)  in Center City

What: If you’re willing to take the 32 down into Center City, the Philadelphia Ghost Tours are an awesome way to spend your Halloween. Tickets are $17 at the door, and $15 online. Lit by candlelight, you’ll explore the haunted stories of our beloved city in areas like Old City and Independence Park.

4.       Howl-O-ween

Hosted by: Howl at the Moon, Philadelphia

When/Where: Starting at 8pm on Saturday night (31st), down in Center City at 258 S. 15th Street (walking distance from the 15th and Market stop on the 32)

What: Howl at the Moon is possibly Philly’s coolest bar, with dueling pianos covering all of your favorite songs. They’re throwing a Halloween party this Saturday night, undoubtedly complete with every Halloween song you’d ever want. It gets crowded on any given Saturday night, so lines may be long, and cover is usually $5-10.

5.       Boorito

Hosted by: Chipotle

When/Where: 5pm to close on Saturday (31st) at all Chipotles, there’s one on City Ave right by Target

What: An excuse to go to Chiptole? We’re sold. Just kidding, who needs an excuse to go to Chiptole? Well, a $3 burrito is pretty sweet. Come in costume with something “unnecessary” added for a serious discounts. Examples include a skeleton with a snorkel or a rollerblading mummy. The possibilities are endless.
