Youtube: everyone watches it and has a particular channel they love watching and will watch for hours on end. You can find a video on just about anything: beauty, fashion, video games, books etc. It helps build a community for those interested in watching the same things and for those who enjoy creating those videos. I don’t think I started watching Youtube often until I went to college and now I practically watch it every day. I know everyone has an opinion on what they like the most, but here are some of my favorite Youtubers to check out.

The Try Guys Photo by Christian Wiediger                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              They were originally on Buzzfeed and now have their own channel and company. They have tried all sorts of things that have brought them out of their comfort zone and have learned a lot about themselves and other people from doing it. They each have their own distinct personality and are open about their lives and struggles. Plus they are hilarious to watch, so you should definitely give them a try if you haven’t already.

Blogilates Photo by Hello I’m Nik                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               I started watching her my freshman year and she is truly inspirational. There are a lot of fitness Youtubers out there, but a lot of them tend to seem perfect and look like fitness models. Cassey Ho, Blogilates fitness instructor, has a totally different approach. She is honest about her struggles and feels so human and normal when talking about her life like eating, fitness and everything else in between. Plus she’s super cheery and friendly and tries to distract from her workouts, because they do actually work.

  3. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Photo by Rachit Tank                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             His is a bit different from most other Youtubers because his is technically a show on HBO. However, I highly recommended watching his pieces because he gets quite in depth with his topics and makes you question a lot about society. He’s funny, smart and always has a weird surprise at the end. He talks about various different topics that should be talked about more, such as rehab, sex education, and vaccines. You will learn a lot from him, trust me.

Worth It Photo by Leon Bublitz                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         This is another show from Buzzfeed that has two guys, Steve and Andrew, trying out different foods. These foods can range from anywhere from toast to pasta to even ice cream. They try different variations of this food from a low price to a medium price to a very high price and try to determine which food was worth it based on taste and price. A lot of the recipes on there look super good, and I always feel like my mouth is watering from watching it.

  5. Fine Brothers Entertainment or FBE Photo by Christian Wiediger                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                This show has different age groups try different things in music, food, clothing and entertainment ,and get their opinions and reactions from them. They also make them do challenges, such as “try not to feel old” or “try to not sing along,” which is pretty hard at times. It’s always cool to hear a different age group, like elderly people, talk about their experiences and who influenced them when they were are age. Some of theme have great advice and others are hilarious to listen to.

All of these Youtubers are great and you should highly consider checking out at least one of them.

I am a junior at IUP who hopes to one day major either in Public Relations or Political Science with an obsession with music.
