Game of Thrones came out in April of 2011 as a televison series adapted from George R.R. Martin’s book series A Song of Fire and Ice. For those of you who don’t know, the series is coming to an end as its 8th season will premire on April 14, 2019. I myself have been watching Game of Thrones for years and am still baffled by the amount of people who have yet to even see one episode! Here are 5 reasons I believe you should watch Game of Thrones.

1. Strong female leads

Game of Thrones feautures a large cast of strong female leads that are insurmountably important to the plot! I persoanlly love watching each of these women and their characters develop as the series continues. As Daenerys Targaryen (one of the most important characters) says, “All men must die, but we are not men.”

2. Action packed

This show is full of action! It feautures dragons, giants, and some of the most strategic wars you’ll ever see! Fear not, the show does not feature mindless violence; the show strongly encourages honoring your family, and most of the fighting is in order to protect the greater good or their loved ones.

3. Great plot and story development

The show was derived from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice–thanks to him and all the producers, writers, and everyone else who works on the series, we have this amazing show! I have now watched all the episodes twice and can honestly say each line is very strategic and many forehshadow the events to come. Not only is the story development phenomenal, but the character development is as well. We get to see the charcaters grow up and develop into imporatant people in the series!

4. Gave unknown actors and actresses a chance

I had personally never heard of Kit Harrington, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, or any of the cast, really, before watching Game of Thrones. I persaonlly love that unknown actors and actresses were given a chance with these roles. They have each done a phenomenal job, and now I even love to watch the other shows and movies they appear in!

5. The story is SO good that it’ll even have you feeling poorly for the bad guys

I even felt a little bit sad for the evil characters. Most of them have awful backgrounds and have seemingly justified reasons for their actions. Not that I want them to prevail in the end, but I see why they act the way they do.

What are you favorite reasons for watching Game of Thrones?
