Organization Spotlight: IC Femfessionals

Let’s welcome IC Femfessionals to our campus! This semester, IC Femfessionals became the first collegiate chapter of the national Femfessionals organization and will be used as a model for future collegiate chapters.

So what is a Femfessional?

“A Femfessional is a savvy business women characterized as a positive, open-minded, driven, professional, ambitious and desirous of forming strong strategic connections with similar minded professional women to benefit each other personally and professionally and to benefit their community. Not only is she motivated to succeed, she is passionate about the success of others around her. A Femfessional is giving of herself and more than willing to help when she is needed. She wants to make an impact in the world, starting with the betterment of her city, and grow as a business professional and a woman. She is quite remarkable!” – Femfessionals

About the Organization at Ithaca College:

IC Femfessionals shares the ultimate goal of their national chapter of “Innovatively Connecting Ambitious Women.” The IC Chapter of Femfessionals is dedicated to providing networking and enrichment services to up and coming professional women from any major and school. The key focus of IC Femfessionals is to help female students develop skills needed to succeed post graduation and network with professionals in their field. As one of the pilot collegiate chapters of Femfessionals, the club IC’s chapter develops will be used as a national template for other collegiate Femfessionals organizations.

Thinking about joining? There are perks to being a member of the first collegiate chapter:

1)    Getting to say you were a member of the first collegiate chapter of Femfessionals ever created.

2)    Numerous national members have expressed interest in speaking to and networking with IC Femfessionals.

3)    There is complete creative freedom for events and promotions…the sky’s the limit!

4)    You’ll get to work closely with the founders of the national chapter, resulting in networking possibilities and establishment of mutual relationships with professionals in various industries.

5)    You’ll learn how to be a successful woman in the professional world.

Speakers this semester so far:

Nancy Bolts: Former Ogilvy & Mather account director and owner of her own advertising boutique Bolts Creative Communications. Nancy Bolts has worked on national campaigns for Pepsi, Shell Oil, American Express and others. Bolts Creative Communications offers public relations, graphic design, social media, direct marketing and more for their clients. Nancy talked to IC Fems about her experience in the communications field, opening her own agency and entrepreneurship.

Kim Niskey: The head of the Chamber of Commerce in Raleigh, NC. Over the past six years, she has brought in over $1 million in revenue and gained 70% more new members. Kim says her keys to success are finding out and meeting the needs of her clients, staying informed about the community and networking at every opportunity. Kim talked to IC Fems about her position and the importance of networking.
