Food Blog: Favorite Foods for Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

Fall is upon us, which means sweaters, boots, and cute scarves. However, the best part about this season isn’t the clothes – it’s the FOOD.

But not just any food: Pillsbury’s Holiday Shape pumpkin sugar cookies, Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Brach’s Candy Corn. These three fall favorites are sure to please your taste buds on an overcast autumn afternoon.
Let’s take it from the top, shall we?

#1: Pillsbury’s Holiday Shape pumpkin sugar cookies
I remember the first time I tasted one of these babies. I was a mere ten year-old, perched on a stool in my kitchen. My mom pulled a tray out of the oven and I was entranced by the smiling orange pumpkins. After they cooled, I got to try one. The taste was remarkable, slightly hard on the outside and ooey-gooey-melt-in-your-mouth-soft on the inside. Needless to say, I was in love. Ever since that day, there’s been a special spot in my heart for these round sugar cookies. They’re truly a delicious treat. And the coolest part about them is they don’t require any baking expertise. All you have to do pick up a package from County Market, throw them on a tray and bake. It’s so simple. #winning

#2: Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
I’ve had a Strawberries & Crème Frap. I’ve had a White Hot Chocolate. But I don’t think ever had a drink from Starbucks as amazing as this one. Each sip is an explosion of flavor. This tasty treat is a blend of espresso, steamed milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, and it tastes like quintessential fall. The drink is topped off with a puff of whipped cream; it’s the perfect final touch. In my opinion, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is the best accessory for any fall outfit. Go get one. Now. Seriously, hit up the Starbucks on Green Street and make all your wildest Pumpkin Spice dreams come true.

#3: Brach’s Candy Corn
Ah, candy corn. There’s really nothing else quite like it. Since autumn has arrived, I’m pretty sure I’ve gone through more than 10 bags of candy corn. I can’t help it; I have an addiction. I always say that if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be Brach’s Candy Corn. Why? Well, simply put, it’s the most delicious confection out there. Candy corn is made with cornstarch and syrup; those simple ingredients come together to create the sweet, triangle-shaped pieces. So yummy. This stuff is a must-have for fall. Or should I say, must-eat. Buy them fast because Walgreens is about to run out of their stock. Sorry I’m not sorry.

Well, there you have it – three yummy foods for the fall season. Have one cookie, or a Tall Pumpkin Spice Latte, or a few pieces of candy corn. Or do what I do and have them all at the same time. Seasonal foods only come once a year, so why not go all out?

When she's not studying (she's the former VP of her sorority, Delta Delta Delta), writing for various publications or attending meetings for clubs like Business Careers in Entertainment Club, Society of Professional Journalists, The Business of Fashion Club, or for her role as the Assistant Editor of the Arts & Entertainment section of her school's magazine, she's doing something else; you will never find her sitting still.
