Fan Flicks: Movies To Keep You Entertained This Fall And Winter Break

I don’t know about you guys, but to me, having a break means sleep and catching up on all the movies I’ve been meaning to watch. Something about cozying up with a blanket, some type of warm beverage and movies just bring all good thoughts. So for this week, here are a few of my top picks of movies for you to watch over the breaks. Lights, camera and action!

Miss Congeniality

For the girls who love a good 2000s throwback, packed with comedy and plenty of action, this movie is for you. It follows the plot line of a female FBI agent who goes undercover during the Miss United States Pageant in an attempt to stop a bomb threat. With this movie, you truly get it all: beauty, fashion, comedy, romance, action and so much more.

The Princess Diaries

Speaking of good 2000’s throwback movies, this one is a classic. But for those of you yet to experience the wonderful world of a Genovian princess, here’s a quick trailer. This movie comes in two parts and is ultimately a coming-of-age series following a young girl who soon finds out her inheritance in becoming the future princess of a European principality called Genovia. There’s a slow-burn romance and plenty of 2000’s references. Sit back and let Paolo take this and this, and give you a princess (if you don’t understand this reference, watch and find out)!

Fast and Furious

Because family means everything. This movie series is absolutely phenomenal for those of you who enjoy action-packed films. It follows the Toretto family and their adventures through heists, street racing, and close bond relationships. Truly a stellar watch that never gets old. There is a lot of variety within each movie as the actors take on different missions in other countries and interact with numerous cultures. If cars, mystery and adventure are your thing, welcome to the tracks of the Fast and Furious movies where you ride or die.

Elemental

This fairly new movie is an absolutely heartwarming story of two opposite worlds being able to beautifully collide. Adding a unique spin to the elements of the Earth; fire, water, land and air residents are able to form a utopian society, or so they thought. When a fire and water sign begins to fall in love, questions arise concerning real-life problems about fitting in, love despite all odds, following society and fulfilling one’s dream. Everything from the visuals to the creativity of names and whimsical animations makes this Pixar film phenomenal and well worth every minute of your time.

The Best of Me

Fair warning, this movie is quite the tear-jerker. It follows two high school sweethearts into their adulthood who go on separate paths in life but are later brought together by the funeral of a mutual friend. 20 years later, certain emotions are brought back to the surface and recountings of what has happened in their life away from each other leave the audience wondering what will happen next. If you love a good romance film that doesn’t follow the stereotypical outline, you’ll be more than pleased with this one. Just make sure to have a tissue box nearby.

These are just a few of my recommendations for the upcoming breaks that I will watch time and time again. Take some time this break to sit back and enjoy a movie of your choice coupled with a favorite snack. That’s all from me this week. Enjoy your break and remember to stay uniquely you!
