One of the biggest criticisms of the University of Illinois is its remote location. We are, ultimately, in the middle of a cornfield. Because we are so isolated, many people believe it is impossible to find reliable places to get beauty procedures, such as hair cuts, eyebrow waxes and spray tans.
Wrong! Although, the amount of places may not be abundant as your hometown, there are a few places on or near campus that will make you feel right at home:
The Beach: Located in the heart of U of I’s campus, the beach offers a personalized and exciting environment to meet the needs of a variety of clientele. The beach offers, waxing, spray tans, hair styling and more!
Rkooa: Located right on green street, this place also offers a variety of different services. Sophomore U of I student Danny Fabian says that “I like it better than my place at home.”
Modern Nails: Although slightly off campus, Modern Nails offers a quick and enjoyable experience and most of the time no appointment required! Modern nails also offers gel nail services, as well as traditional services. Freshman u of I student Allison Edhiemer says that “ If you want a place where you can get in and out quickly, definitely go to Modern Nails.
No 7. Salon and Spa: One of my personal favorites! It is located on Gregory street in Urbana. They offer quality haircuts, waxing and more!
Just because you may not go to a school like Tulane or UCLA, which are known for their great college towns, does not mean you have to sacrifice your beauty routine. Have confidence in the places mentioned and don’t be afraid to experiment with other local beauty places you see on or around campus. You never know what you will find!
