5 Reasons Why Fall Is The Best Season At Illinois

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

The leaves are starting to change color and there is a cool breeze in the air. It’s fall on campus and at Illinois it is seriously the best time of the year! The quad looks GORGEOUS and there are barn dances, trips to Curtis Apple Orchard, pumpkin spice lattes and so much more! But out of all of these amazing things these are the five best parts about fall.

1. Pumpkin and Apple Flavored Things

The best part of fall is definitely all of the different flavored food and drinks! Of course you have the traditional pumpkin spice latte complete in all of its sweet and creamy goodness, but let’s not forget about all of the other delicious things! There is apple cider, apple cider doughnuts and caramel apples. Plus there are so many other seasonal coffee drink combinations that you luckily have all fall to try!

2. Fall Fashion

Fall fashion is fantastic. It’s the perfect medium between wearing ten layers of clothing and shorts. Fall fashion means you can shamelessly break out your leggings, flannel, vests, scarfs and leather boots. So it’s really the only season where you will look super cute and be 100% comfortable at the same time.

3. Halloween

Halloween is one of the best holidays on campus! Yes, it will undoubtedly be freezing, but being cold as you run around to bars, parties and the like is worth it. You get to dress up and have a night full of fun with your friends. Plus, professors are much more relaxed with the work load so you can have the ultimate Halloween weekend full of fun.

4. Fall Activities

The fall offers the best activities! There are bonfires, trips to the apple orchard, the corn maze, carving pumpkins and so much more! There is so much to do in the fall and all of these activities offer great distractions from studying for midterms. Plus, being in the Midwest we by far have the best fall fun activities!

5. Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving in college is so much better than it was in high school. For one, we have the entire week off which offers a well-deserved chance to decompress and more importantly unlimited time to sleep. This week is also a great time to visit friends at other colleges and catch up with any high school friends. But, most importantly this week is all about food. I mean, it’s Thanksgiving right? Whatever “food” you have been eating in the dining halls or making for yourself will never live up to a home cooked meal. Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays and it’s one of the best things in fall.
