Three Sustainable Dress Brands to Look Out For

The Her Campus National Editors write about products we love and think you’ll love too. Her Campus has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase. All products are in stock and all prices are accurate as of publication.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

In a world dominated by fast fashion and the increase of rampant consumerism, the need for sustainable clothes has been on the minds of those who are hoping to ease their carbon footprints. The market of sustainable brands has been rising throughout the years, and if you’re looking for affordable, sustainable, and ethically made dresses, then you’re in the right place! I found three brands that are either sustainable, or bettering their sustainability as they flourish as a brand.

1: Simple Retro

Averie Lace Panel White Dress

Created in 2015 by a group of women inspired by their love of vintage fashion, Simple Retro is a brand that pushes out sustainably made dresses for great prices, with most of their dresses ranging from 40 dollars to 70 dollars. The size range is from XS to a large, which unfortunately isn’t the most inclusive with sizing, but as the need for inclusive clothing sizes increases, hopefully brands like Simple Retro will include more sizes so more consumers can wear vintage dresses that they love.

Ophelia Dress in Green

Created in 2016 by Jessa Maddocks, JessaKae is a staple for inclusive sizing, with sizes starting from XXS all the way to 6X. Maddocks creates versatile dresses that range in quality, but most customers that bought her products say that they’re created well and with sustainable materials. The price range is a little more expensive than other stores, with costs ranging from 100 to almost 300 dollars. Even though the dresses are expensive, the reception seems to make the price worth it, as these dresses are stylish and last a long time.

Frankie Silk Dress in Garden Soiree

Created in 2009, Reformation is a brand that describes themselves as a “brand that has fast fashion and sustainability co-exist.” Their products are sized from 0 to 24 in the US, and with prices ranging from 100 to 300+ dollars. The dress styles offered are wide in variety, from casual day dresses, to formal dresses for a fun night out. For those who love a large variety of choices, this is a brand to look out for!
