Sunday Scaries? Here are some hang-xiety tips from a college senior

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

You may have heard of the basic to-do’s to manage a seemingly never-ending hangover, but here are some products to try if you’re like me and those basic things just don’t work for you.

Of course, you want to celebrate a productive week by going out on the weekend, but even one night of drinking can affect your entire weekend. For the past year, I have researched and tried out many different hangover remedies. I want to express that what works for me may not work for you, but it’s better to try it than to stick to your failed routine. Here are some things to try to cure your hang-xiety:

1. NoDaysWasted

As an avid listener of the MeanGirl Podcast, I was very eager to try out NoDaysWasted products using their promo code. NoDaysWasted is a company that values scientific data and uses herbal blends in its products to provide a natural supplement. I purchased the DHM Detox, which consists of ingredients that combat the toxins that stay in your body after a night out. With my purchase, I also received Hydration Replenishers which is a powder mix to drink before you start drinking. This gives you a boost of electrolytes to keep you hydrated as the night goes on. For me, I loved that I was able to simply take the herbal supplements and not have to worry about the upcoming day.

2. Alka Seltzer Hangover Relief

The best “bang for your buck” product to cure your hangover are these Alka Seltzer tablets. For only $4 at most stores, you can get a 20-pack of these effervescent tablets. These are a great remedy for any brain fog, body aches or headaches that you may have after drinking. This product is just great to have if you need a quick pick-me-up to get your brain and body back to normal. I especially liked these tablets because it is a quick, easy and cheap way to solve my hangovers.

3. Liquid IV

Though it may present itself as a product you can use day-to-day, these hydration packets are a great way to avoid dehydration before, during and after drinking. With three times the amount of electrolytes as compared to typical sports drinks, Liquid IV is the perfect way to hydrate quickly. Each pack consists of five essential vitamins and a variety of flavors to keep you going. These were a great refresh for my brain and body the morning after a long night out.

4. Dunk your face in ice water

Though this is not a product you could buy, it is just as effective. I noticed this remedy on social media where if you dunk your face into a bowl of cold water, you should feel refreshed from your hangover. I desperately tried this and it actually worked for me. This way does seem a bit out there, but try it! You never know, this could be what you needed all along.

Break up with your basic hangover routine and try something new, you deserve it! I hope these remedies helped you all survive the Sunday Scaries! Thank you for reading!
