As the snow melts and the green grass grows, (unless you live in Illinois, then you can expect snow in the middle of April), we find ourselves feeling a little happier throughout the day. It is easier to wake up, and it is easier to find our way outside. Let it be known that SEASONAL DEPRESSION IS REAL!

According to Bustle.com, “A lack of sunlight can cause Seasonal Affective Disorder.” Wait… that’s a thing? YES. Have you ever noticed that when the sun is shining, then your day is so much better? When exposed to less sunlight, your body produces more melatonin, the hormone which makes you feel sleepy. Crazy, right?

Need to study? GO OUTSIDE! Researchers from a 2004 University of Michigan study found that people who spent at least 30 minutes outside during periods of decent weather reported improved mood, memory, and openness to new information. Spending time outside is a favorite way, especially for college students, to get their study time in and their tan!

Springtime is one of the best times of the year because it is not too cold, not too hot, the snow is melting, and that also means SCHOOL IS ALMOST OVER! Springtime is the best because you can feel the end of the academic year rising and, along with the nice weather, you feel more empowered to finish out the school year strong.

Some things to do during the nice weather is:

1. Sit on the quad with your friends

2. Play a sport (volleyball, softball, soccer…)

3. Play frisbee

4. Go on a walk

5. Take cute photos for Instagram

Now that the decent weather is near, spend your time outside and enjoying the sunshine. Because before we know it, it will be snowing again!

Lots of Love,
