It’s the holiday season and stress is building up from the anticipation of finals week. So, we figured, why not take a break? Looking to try out some new Christmas cookies? These colorful slice & bake cookies are the perfect treat to give away as gifts… or save for yourself!

What you’ll need:
-Sugar Cookie Dough, packaged or homemade. If you’re not a fan of packaged dough, you can find tons of sugar cookie recipes here: http://www.delish.com/recipes/cooking-recipes/sugar-cookies
– Red and green food coloring
-Rolling pin
-Sprinkles (any kind you prefer)
-Wax paper
-Plastic Wrap

Directions:
1.       Prepare the first batch of cookie dough as the package says for roll-out cookies.

2.       Divide the dough in half.

3.       Place half of the uncolored dough between two sheets of wax paper & roll out into a rectangle.

4.       Put the whole thing on a pan and into the fridge to chill for 30 minutes.

5.       Take the second half of the dough and add whatever food coloring you would like.

6.       Repeat steps 3 and 4.

7.       Remove top layer of wax paper off of the colored dough carefully.

8.       Do the same with the plain dough.

9.       Lay the colored dough on top of the plain dough & trip until the two batches of dough match each other in size.

10.   Beginning at the end, roll the dough into a tube shape.

11.   Lay the sprinkles on the wax paper & roll the cookie dough tube all the way through.

12.   Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3-4 hours.

13.   Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

14.   Slice the dough log and place cookies on a baking sheet.

15.   Bake for 12-14 minutes.

These cookies may seem complex because there are so many steps, but they really are easy! Baking these Christmas cookies are a perfect way to relieve the stress of finals – enjoy!
