Something that is very important to do is to set goals for ourselves. It helps motivate us to accomplish things and feel good about ourselves. With that being said, it is very easy to set big goals and not reach them and feel like a failure. For example, one of your goals could be going to the gym more and eating healthier, but you had a busy week and only went to the gym twice and you decided to go out and get ice cream so you completely just wipe your goal away because you “failed”. We need to move away from that mindset! Goals aren’t set so we can be perfect all the time. Your goals can ALWAYS be accomplished if you choose to work on it and be conscious of it.

We need to be more excited about our small accomplishments and pat ourselves on the backs once in a while. Small accomplishments can sometimes go unnoticed, but they are so important and can make a positive impact on your life. Here are examples of small accomplishments:

  • Drinking more water
  • Going to the gym the amount you wanted to in a week
  • Being there for someone
  • Volunteering
  • Being a good friend, daughter/son, brother/sister, colleague, etc.
  • Random acts of kindness
  • Being more positive
  • Smiling more
  • Finding things that make you happy
  • Being able to forgive yourself
  • Focusing on your mental & physical health
  • Trying something new
  • Recycling
  • Learning new things
  • Overcoming your struggles
  • Impacting someone’s life
  • Making a difference in this world
  • Seeing new places
  • Loving yourself and others around you
  • Spreading kindness

These are things that can be easily done, and these are just as important as our big goals and accomplishments. Never feel like you can’t ever complete your goals or achieve nothing. Write down small accomplishments you want to achieve because I guarantee crossing them off after you complete them will give you the same feeling as accomplishing big goals.

As Ralph Emerson puts it, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Always remember that!
