10 Life Lessons that Disney Movies Taught Us

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Who doesn’t love watching Disney movies? I know I do. Sometimes all you need is to curl up with a blanket, binge on some candy, and watch your favorite Disney movie. Along with all of the magic and catchy songs, there actually happens to be lot of life lessons hidden in these films. Throughout the years and years of watching these movies, these are some life lessons I’ve learned:

1)    “The past can hurt, but you can either run from it or learn from it.” – The Lion King

Don’t focus on the past too much. Instead, take your past experiences and learn from them.

2)    “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind.” – Lilo & Stitch

Never forget where you come from and who’s important to you.

3)    “All it takes is faith and trust.” – Peter Pan

If life is bringing you down, just remember that sometimes all you need is faith and trust (and a little bit of pixie dust).

4)    “If you keep on believing the dream that you wish will come true.” – Cinderella

Never give up on your hopes and dreams.

5)    Venture outside your comfort zone. The rewards are worth it.” – Tangled

We have to step out of our comfort zone to experience new things.

6)    “Always let your conscience be your guide.” – Pinocchio

If you ever lose your way, remember to always do what you feel is right.

7)    “Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts.” – Aladdin

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

8)    “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” – Mulan

Always be yourself and stay true to who you are.

9)    “Sometimes the right path is not the easiest one” – Pocahontas

It’s not always easy to do the right thing, but it’s the most rewarding.

10) “You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” – Winnie the Pooh

When you feel weak, don’t let your insecurities get the best of you.
