10 Different Ways to Use Vodka

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Who knew that vodka, one of our dearest friends, had more uses than just for getting drunk? Other than being used to make mixed drinks and shots, always followed by a crazy night we won’t remember, it can be used for many useful things as well. Here’s a list of 10 things to use vodka for besides catching a buzz.

1. It can be used as a stain remover. If you need to remove a stain from a clothing item or your carpet, try using vodka to remove it.

2. You can use it to kill bees or wasps. All you need to do is put some in a spray bottle and spray those pesky bugs away.

3. If you are ever stung by a jellyfish, pour vodka on the wound to disinfect it.

4. It can be used to clean your scalp and remove toxins from your hair. Just mix a little bit into your usual bottle of shampoo.

5. Use it if you ever get poison ivy! Put it on the rash immediately and the itchiness should die down.

6. It can be used to freshen laundry. Simply spray vodka on clothes after the wash and let air dry. Vodka kills bacteria and also leaves no scent when dry.

7. It can preserve flowers. You just need to put a few drops of the liquid into a vase of water with a teaspoon of sugar.

8. Clean away the mold with vodka! Spray it on the mold and wait 15 minutes. Then, scrub it off with a toothbrush and you are mold free.

9. It can even soothe a toothache (without getting you drunk!) If you just swish a little bit of vodka in your mouth by your toothache, it should numb some of the pain and even disinfect it.

10. Make an ice pack that can be used for bruises or sore muscles. Put some vodka in a plastic bag and leave it in the freezer over night.
