I don’t know about you, but this year I have been so caught up in school and other things that I’ve hardly realized that Halloween is coming up so soon. With fall being my favorite season, I’ve been trying to brainstorm some ideas of things to do to get me more into the Halloween spirit. Here are some things you should do to have the ultimate Halloween season:

  1. Salem

I’ve actually only been to Salem once during the Halloween season but it is one of the best places to get into the spirit. Because of the witch trials, everyone gets super into the holiday and dresses up the entire season. Salem is the perfect town to get those perfect fall vibes and learn about some of the history of the town. It’s only an hour away from Holy Cross but make sure you go at a good time because it does get busy.

  1. Hike Mount Wachusett

One thing my friends and I are planning on doing this Halloween weekend is hiking Mount Wachusett. Personally, fall is my favorite time of the year to go on hikes as you get to see the foliage and spend time outdoors. Mount Wachusett is only 20 minutes away from campus and they even have a Halloween event this weekend.

  1. Have a little Halloween night with your friends

I love having little craft nights with all my friends, especially when they’re themed. Something you and your friends could do together is paint pumpkins. Gather your favorite friends, candy, and some good music, and make a night out of pumpkin painting.

  1. Watch spooky movies

Another thing to do with your friends is to watch a spooky movie. Last year, all of my friends got together after class one day and got a little projector to play Hocuspocus. It was so cute and a great way to spend time together with my friends during the Halloween season.

  1. Decorate your room

You can even do small things to get into the Halloween spirit such as decorating your room. My roommate and I have little pumpkins on our windowsill and our friends have garlands outside their doors. It’s a perfect and easy way to get more excited for Halloween.

  1. Volunteer

Something I’m doing this Halloween is volunteering at an after school children’s Halloween party. It is so adorable to see how excited all the children are for the holiday and hear about their Halloweens.

  1. Go out

Lastly, going out is such a fun way to get excited for Halloween. I love talking to people about what costumes they are going to wear and hanging out with all my friends beforehand. It’s such a fun excuse to get dressed up in a costume and talk to new people.
