The Realities of Hot Weather at Holy Cross

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

1. On move in day, you and your roommate IMMEDIATELY set up all three (yes, three) of your fans and fling open the windows because dorms without air conditioning are disgustingly uncomfortable.

2. You find yourself taking borderline excessive amounts of showers during the day. Two or three showers in less than 24-hours just seem absolutely necessary.

3. Studying in Dinand is NOT even given consideration, so the science library becomes your new home.

4. While sitting in the science library you freeze to death because the air conditioning is turned up so high only to walk outside and realize how great that AC really was.

5. You prolong all your meals in Kimball to enjoy the time indoors because walking around campus results in working up a sweat.

6. Speaking of walking around campus…all those stairs? They become your worst nightmare in the heat.

7. Dresses and flow-y clothing become your best friends because of how heat-friendly they are.

8. Struggling to find an outfit you have yet to repeat because only so many pieces of your wardrobe are suitable for 95 degrees and high humidity.

9. Those cute new string lights you hung up on your wall? Forget how cute they look because turning them on just makes the temperature in your already sweltering room worse.

10. And when the temperature FINALLY returns to normal, you could not be more appreciative of the fabulous New England fall weather.
