Plan Ahead: Staycation Ideas for Easter Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

Planning ahead and trying to brainstorm fun ways to spend Easter Break during a pandemic? Here are some fun ideas to make your staycation feel like a vacation.

Slumber Party

There’s nothing more than a good old-fashioned, traditional slumber party. Invite your bubble over for a fun, chill night in. Take over your living room or finished basement and decorate it to your heart’s desire. Throw some sleeping bags, fluffy pillows, and cozy blankets on the floor and put on your favorite pair of pjs. Don’t forget the snacks! Ice cream is a must.

Movie Marathon

Over Christmas break, my brother and I successfully completed the infamous 19 hour “Harry Potter” movie marathon. We planned it extensively, starting at 8:00 am and ending at 3:00am. It was deliriously fun! You can plan a movie marathon with any movies — no theme required. If you prefer having some structure, try one of these themes: rom-coms, musicals, Best Picture winners, “Bring it On,” Pixar tearjerkers, or inspirational sports movies.

Indoor Camping

Camping indoors kind of defeats the whole purpose of camping, but who cares? We’re living through a pandemic — we can bend the camping rules a little bit. If you have a tent, feel free to pitch it up. Or just construct a classic fort with blankets, chairs, and pillows. Roast some marshmallows on the stove and snuggle up in the warmth of your house!

Bathtub Hot Tub

Are you pining for a tropical getaway? Turn your bathtub into a hot tub! Put on your favorite bathing suit, make a fun and fruity drink, grab a beach read, and settle into your own personal hot tub. Just close your eyes and pretend you’re on an island.
