My Recent Feelings Towards Going Abroad in the Spring

I will be studying abroad in Granada, Spain during the spring semester. I am going to be home in Illinois for about 2.5 weeks and then I am set to depart. As of recently, I find myself not thinking about it often because I get nervous. There is so much that I don’t know, who is my host family? Will I make friends? How will I adapt to fully Spanish courses? Will my friends forget about me? Being in a Long Distance Relationship? I will be away from campus for about 9 months and will return as a senior. A SENIOR! As a first-generation college student, I know that I have made the right decision. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. After talking to many Holy Cross students, all I hear are their amazing stories from going abroad. But as a super planner, not knowing what my life will look like is definitely frightening. With that being said I am also very excited. Studying in Spain is such a great opportunity. I will get the opportunity to fully immerse myself in the language and culture. The countdown begins…..
