5 Essentials for your Spring Athleisure look

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

Spring has sprung! It’s time to put away the parka and bring out the shorts. Although I love the spring, and all that the warm weather has to offer, I cannot deny the fact that I do love using the cold as an excuse to dress in comfortable and cozy outfits. I would honestly wear sweatpants everyday if I could. However, in order to feel like my best self, I always try to look presentable when going around campus and to my classes. As an underclassman I used to get dressed up every day. However, now, as a current junior, I have discovered the wonders of athleisure as a girl on the go. With athleisure, I can fulfill my desire to be comfortable, while also looking cute. Not only this, but I now also save time by not having to change clothes before I go to the gym. Therefore, I have been browsing Pinterest for some outfit inspiration, and have compiled a list of 8 essentials for your Spring 2022 athleisure looks.

  1. Bike shorts: I love bike shorts, as they are basically just short leggings. They can be styled in so many different ways. Personally, I love to channel my inner Princess Dianna, and wear them with an over-sized sweatshirt and sneakers.
  1. Sweat shorts:  Next on my list is sweatshorts, which are sweatpants shorter sister. I love how comfortable they are, but also allow you to look cute. I actually recently bought a sweatshirt from Aritizia, which I love.
  1. Basic, neutral tops: To match with yout bottoms, I recommend building a collection of basic, neutral colored tops. Through this collection, you can mix and match to create a whole capsule wardrobe of outfits.
  1. Chunky sneakers: For shoes, I have notices a big trend of chunky sneakers.  I personally have white Nike air maxes that I love, but I have also seen New Balances and Reeboks make a big come back.
  1. Accessories: Personally, I think the key to pulling an athleisure outfit together is through accessories. I usually wear the same everyday jewlery. However, I think that earrings, specifically gold hoops, are really a game changer. Gold hoops add a little bling and dress up any outfit, even if it is just sweatshorts and a basic top. Along with my everyday gold hoop earrings, I have also been into hair accessories, particularly claw clips. If I am having a bad hair day, I just through it up using a claw clip and automatically look put together. My last accessory that I have been obsessed with recently is baseball caps. I love to wear these hats when I am not wearing makeup as they are super cute and hide my face when I want to.
