15 Things to Thank Your Friends For after this Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

It’s been a crazy, whirlwind of a year starting with the death of Rumors and a newly renovated Kimball, to declaring majors/minors and applying to study abroad, to the massive snow storms and being in lockdown for Juno, to the Fifty Shades of Grey premiere and the first warm day, and finally, ending with a perfect Spring Weekend. We’ve all had our ups and downs, however, we could not have done it without the help of our friends. College is a time where you discover who you are, a place to make mistakes you may regret a year or two down the road, and of course to create lasting memories. Thus, the friends you make are of utmost importance. If they’re still by your side after falling down at Leits, dropping your plate full of food at Kimball, or slipping on ice in front of way too many people, then you know they’ll be your friends for life.

1. Thanks for the movie/TV Nights:Thank you for hosting bachelor viewing parties as well as the occasional rom-com and drama movie 2 to 3 times a week. The cuddles and snacking make for some of the best memz and the naps that follow don’t hurt either.

2. Thanks for the squad lunches and dinners at Kimball:From the people watching to waiting in the stir-fry line for 20 minutes-some of the best conversations and gossip sessions happen here. Also, thanks for always sitting in the same area, so I know where to find ya if I ever have to enter Kim alone…

3. Thanks for the massages and cuddles: From being bribed with a cookie to just doing it out of love, these “intimate” moments never get old.

4. Thanks for having dance parties and for hosting pregames:…even if it’s on a Tuesday.

5. Thanks for curling my hair…:and even more for not judging when one of us has not washed their hair in 3 days…

6. Thanks for sharing my love of people watching:I so appreciate our long stays at Kimball, because where else can we see our freshman year summer orientation roommate, all the kids from our classes, and our ex-hookups in just one place?

7. Thanks for sharing your entire wardrobe with me:Your own tank tops and dresses never seem as exciting and cute as another person’s…amirite?

8. Thanks for getting…:a wrap, mac n’ cheese, samosas, and a cookie with me after a long day. Really, thanks.

9. Thanks for matching my level of weirdness and accepting all my endearing “quirks.”:You’ve stood by my side through it all from driving all around Worcester for a lost phone to just laying next to each other and feeling content and at peace, I could not be more grateful.

10. Thank you for always acknowledging our worth and great role in this world:I so appreciate your words and advice and for engraining in us the fact that we’re all “strong, independent women who don’t need no man.”

11. Thank you for being so honest:Thanks for always telling me everything straight and for always being open and honest. If it weren’t for you all, one of us could have gone out with pink underwear showing underneath her white dress.

12. Thanks for showing me there is nothing I cannot do:From encouraging us to go talk to that cute guy from Econ to telling us to apply to that really competitive internship. Thank you for reassuring us that we can do anything we put our minds to.

13. Thank you for keeping me sane during crazy, stressful exam weeks:I don’t know if I would have remembered to eat actual meals other than granola bars without your help…

14. Thanks for being there:Especially at 2 am when one of us can’t sleep and we find ourselves in an in-depth conversation about all our fears and hopes for the future.

15. Thanks for being you!:I couldn’t have gotten through this year without all of ya!
