Campus Celebrities SGA Edition – SGA Secretary Candidate Tru Stevens

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hollins chapter.

As many of us know, SGA elections are tomorrow and we’ll spend the day deciding what students will run our school for the 2012-2013 school year.
The HC Hollins Team knows that’s kind of a big deal, so we interviewed several of the students running for SGA positions to hear about their campaigns, goals and qualifications in their own words.

In between classes today, Tru Stevens spoke with me about her reasons for running for SGA Secretary and the unique skills that she brings to the table.

Amber Rambharose (AR): What qualifications do you have that make you suited for this position?

Tru Stevens (TS): I’m very organized. I keep notes for pretty much everything and I like to plan things. I feel like being able to help SGA by contributing my organizational skills will help a lot.

AR: What improvements do you think can be made to the role of SGA Secretary as it is now?

TS: I’m not very familiar with the current SGA Secretary but if elected I’ll stay on top of things. If we have meetings and notes need to be sent out, they will be sent out as a priority.

AR: If you could describe yourself in this position in three words, what would those three words be?

TS: I would say fun-loving, because I would bring a fun atmosphere to the position, definitely organized, and prompt.

AR: What do you love most about Hollins?

TS: You’ll find out what brought me to Hollins in my speech tonight but I’ll just say that I like the recycling bins. They show Hollins’ atmosphere and represent who we are as a campus.

AR: Are there any things that you want our readers and Hollins voters to know about you as a person that would encourage them to put their faith in you?

TS: I’m Vice Chair of CASA right now, which involves a lot of note-taking and in some other organizations as well. In all of them, it’s very important to stay organized or the group can fall apart. I’d also have to say that one more thing to note, besides organization, is that I’ve very particular about how things are kept. People can expect the same thing every time.

AR: So consistency is big for you?

TS: Definitely.

Amber is a recent graduate from Hollins University. She greatly enjoyed her time as HC Hollins Editor-In-Chief and looks forward to seeing what great things new students bring to the branch.
