Welcome to season 10 of RuPaul’s Drag Race! The first episode aired almost exactly nine years ago, and this month they have announced the queens who are competing on season 10. If you’ve never heard of Drag Race before then I can tell you that it’s basically like America’s Next Top Model, except for drag queens. So, buckle up because we’re boarding the RuPaul bus, baby.
1. Body confidence and acceptance
As the show becomes more mainstream the acceptance of drag queens is increasing. RuPaul spreads the message that it is okay to be exactly yourself.
2. “Ohh, Pit Crew!”
I don’t even need to say anything about this. Seriously. Look at these guys.
3. The transformations
The way these men put on makeup on is incredible. I can’t even put on lipstick without getting it on my teeth, and yet they can completely change the way they look. It’s an art.
4. The challenges
There is no end to the creativity on this show. I’m not sure how the show’s producers come up with the challenges presented on the show, or how the queens always rise to the occasion, but they do.
5. Guest judges
From Amy Sedaris to Khloe Kardashian and Lady Gaga, the guest judges are always a welcomed surprise. Mixing up the judge’s panel is one way the show keeps you on your toes.
6. The shade of it all
Ooooh girl! The shade in the workroom is real! Sly comments start flying when queens don’t paint their faces well or can’t sew. We’re never sure if they mean it or if it’s just friendly banter, either way, I always have a bag of popcorn nearby.
7. Puns, innuendos, and catchphrases
RuPaul has some of the best catchphrases on this show and I find myself incorporating them into my daily life. Not only this, but the whole judge’s panel makes some great dad jokes along with dirty puns as queens strut down the runway.
8. Two words: All Stars
If your favorite queen is eliminated from their regular season don’t start crying yet. They might come back in an All Stars season! Right now we’re in the middle of season 3 and every episode has ten times the competition, shade, and showmanship from some of the best queens that went home.
9. The laughs
There’s nothing like a good, hard laugh and there’s no better way to enjoy a hearty chuckle than with your favorite queens. You’re not laughing at them, just with them.
10. Pure glam
There is plenty of time to catch up on seasons 1 through 9 before season 10 airs! If you’re not convinced yet, here is some more proof that it’s the best way to procrastinate:
