UH Manoa is getting sued by the contractors who have been building at our school for over $4.6 million dollars?!
This is due to complications from the projects they are working on which includes the new Warrior Rec Center that has accumulated $2.6 million dollars of costly delays by UH Manoa.
The lawsuit states that UH is being sued for being unprofessional in causing delays to the $47 million “Campus Center Renovation and Expansion Project”. $38 million of that money has gone to the new fitness center that was opened more than a year later than originally planned.
The delays have been blamed on “unforeseen and unavoidable setbacks” with problems infrastructure and utilities as well as sudden revisions to the plan. However the Honolulu Builders say that the real reason was due to “myriad deficiencies and missteps in the design and management of the Project by UH and its consultants”. This has resulted in $6 million extra that the university has yet to pay for. Apparently thr project has suffered an extra one and a half years of delays.
The Honolulu Builders have said that if UH had been responsible and in a timely manner the lawsuit could have been avoided.
