Still Figuring Out How to Succeed This Semester? Here’s What to Focus on Based on Your Zodiac.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hawaii chapter.

It’s the beginning of a new school year, and like many others, I’ve been thinking about what I can do to have the most success this year. As someone who is very into tarot, I often consult my cards when I need some advice.

Using the properties of the New Moon, I cleansed and charged my tarot decks in preparation for this reading. The deck I used is The Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans.

Using your sun sign, I have drawn up something for you to focus on that can help you achieve better success this year. Your sun sign is the sign that most people call your zodiac. If you don’t know your sign, the dates for each sign are listed next to each zodiac for your convenience.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with tarot, some of the terms I use might be confusing. Linked here and here are good resources to help you get a better understanding of tarot.

As this is a group reading (a reading for many people as opposed to a reading for an individual), some of what is recommended to you may not apply or resonate with you. Please take with you what resonates, and leave the rest.

Aries (March 21-April 20): Son of Pentacles

The Son of Pentacles represents hard work, productivity, routine, and conservatism. In order to best succeed this year, Aries, I recommend creating a daily or weekly schedule or routine to stick to. Block out your time based on your needs. Dedicate time for studying, relaxing, doing homework, and even chores you may have to attend to.

Taurus (April 21-May 20): Six of Wands Reversed

Traditionally, the Reversed Six of Wands is associated with private achievement, personal definition of success, fall from grace, and egotism. In order to achieve your best success, Taurus, I am interpreting this as rewarding yourself for completing your goals. Set reasonable and attainable goals, and once you meet them, be sure to do something nice for yourself afterward.

Gemini (May 21-June 21): Two of Swords Reversed

Traditionally, this card is associated with indecision, confusion, information overload, and stalemate. For you, Gemini, I interpret this to mean that you need to take breaks during your periods of productivity. This will give your brain a breather and allow you to not feel overwhelmed by the tasks or information you need to deal with.

Cancer (June 22-July 22): Ace of Pentacles Reversed

This card is associated with lost opportunities and a lack of planning and foresight. In order to achieve success this year, you need to take advantage of things that are presented to you, such as internships or services, and also plan your time well. Create a schedule that works for you that includes time for things such as schoolwork, household responsibilities, and fun.

Leo (July 23-August 22): Two of Cups Reversed

The Two of Cups Reversed symbolizes self-love, breakups, disharmony, and distrust. The word that is sticking out the most for you, Leo, is “self-love”. In order to have the best success possible this year, you need to prioritize taking care of yourself. Do things purely because they make you feel good or make you happy. Examples of this could look like doing a face mask, going on a hike, baking your favorite dessert, or having a movie night.

Virgo (August 23- September 22): The Hermit

The Hermit is the card of soul searching, introspection, being alone, and inner guidance. For you, Virgo, I take this as a need for alone time. This alone time could be spent in any number of ways. Maybe you need to study alone or listen to music by yourself. The way you spend this time is up to your interpretation. This alone time may act as an essential “recharge” that could help you be successful this year.

Libra (September 23- October 22): Nine of Pentacles Reversed

The Nine of Pentacles Reversed symbolizes self-worth, over-investment in work, and hustling. For you, Libra, I interpret this as a need for balance. More specifically, a need for work-life or school-life balance. You need time to complete the things you need to get done for work and/or school, but you also need time to relax and have fun.

Scorpio (October 23-November 22): Seven of Cups

The card of the Seven of Cups traditionally means opportunities, choices, wishful thinking, and illusions. In order to achieve the best success this semester, Scorpio, you should take advantage of all opportunities that come your way. The opportunities you have coming your way may greatly benefit you. Take advantage of opportunities your school provides for your own betterment, such as tutoring services or mental health services.

Sagittarius (November 23-December 21): Mother of Wands

The Mother of Wands traditionally means courage, confidence, independence, social butterfly, and determination. For you, Sagittarius, I interpret this as a need to be social. This could look like putting yourself out there and making new friends, engaging in social groups or clubs through your school, or participating in class more.

Capricorn (December 22-January 20): Three of Pentacles

This card is traditionally associated with teamwork, collaboration, learning, and implementation. For you, Capricorn, I interpret this card as a recommendation for study groups. Studying the same subject matter with multiple people may help you retain the information better and it may also help you have a deeper understanding of the material.

Aquarius (January 21-February 18): Seven of Pentacles

The Seven of Pentacles is traditionally associated with long-term view, sustainable results, perseverance, and investment. For you, Aquarius, I interpret this as a need for study habits that you can do continuously. This may look more like studying for shorter periods of time over the course of a week prior to a test rather than cramming from 8 pm until 4 am the night before a test. The consistency and the sustainability will help instill a practice that may help carry you through not only this year but perhaps even the next few years.

Pisces (February 19-March 20): Father of Wands Reversed

The Father of Wands Reversed symbolizes impulsiveness, haste, ruthlessness, and high expectations. Pisces, I interpret this as a need to set standards and goals that are more feasible and attainable. If you hold yourself to an expectation of 100% every time, when you give or get an 80% or an 85%, you may be left feeling disappointed and like you failed. If you were to set goals and expectations of 75% or 80% every time, when you reach that 75% or 80%, you might start to exceed that goal more often.
