Drinking water is extremely important for our health. More than half of our body is water so we literally need water to live. But I get it, it’s flavorless, it’s boring, you’d rather have something sweet and fun to drink instead. But what if water could be fun for you? Here’s some tips on how to make drinking water feel less like a chore.
Use a fun water bottle
You’re constantly on the move and you have classes all day. You’re going to need to put your water in something that you can carry around. So why not pick a cute, fun water bottle. Make it your favorite color or put some stickers on it! Really make it yours and have it show off your personality. You could also get a water bottle that motivates you to drink more. I got mine from the Target Bullseye section for $5. It has lines every inch or so that motivates me to keep going and try to finish the bottle. Or better yet, did you get a Stanley cup for Christmas? Use that and show it off!
Add flavor
This is such a simple and easy way to make drinking water feel like you’re NOT drinking water. Cut up some lemons, limes, or oranges and drop them in the water. It’ll add some flavor and also help with your digestion, help with your skin, and just make you feel good. If you’re not into citrus-y stuff, go to the local Foodland or Safeway and buy some water enhancers, like Mio. They make your water taste like juice! Some of the Mio drops have vitamins while some have caffeine for a quick energy boost.
Make it a part of your daily routine
If you incorporate drinking water into your daily routine, you’re more likely to do it more often (or at least you won’t forget to drink water). It takes 7 days for something to become a habit. So if you forget one day, don’t beat yourself up. Just make sure to get back on track tomorrow. You can make it a timed thing to drink water. Drink a glass in the morning when you first wake up. Take a couple sips of water during class after the professor has you answer a question. And drink a glass of water an hour before you go to bed. Just like that, you’ve already got a couple of cups of water down. This also doesn’t count the water that you’ll probably drink after walking to class or work out.
There are definitely way more ways to make drinking water fun! Just remember that you need to stay hydrated everyday, so make it fun in your way!!
